In Nizhniy Novgorod region there are 16 towns which are administrative centers of the districts. Every town has it is own history , geography , image and fame. Some towns are known all over the country. But others are unknown. Unfortunately my town Navashino is not famous around the world. But I want it to be well – known not only in Russian Federation but also abroad.  I think English can help me to do it ,because the English language is international ,it is means of learning the world.

My town was founded in 1957 from the coalition of two settlements Mordovshikovo and Lipnya. It has a railway which makes it is geographical position more favourable.

The neighbouring towns are Viksa and Kulebaki. But they do not have such advantages. Besides ,Navashino is located on the border with Vladimir region on the bank of the Oka river. Another town with a great historical importance ,Murom is the nearest one. Everybody knows Ilya Muromets ,the hero of the russian legends ,tales.

We are proud of our town. It is small ,but very cosy and clean. The streets are straight and wide. The population of Navashino is 20 thousand people.

The town has all the necessary administrative institions (the post office, the railway station, the hospitals, the banks, schools, kindergartens, a nursing home, plants etc.)

I can say that we are close to nature. Nature is always around us. There are some beautiful lakes  and rivers in the town : lake Beloye , Zelyonoye ,rivers the Veletma, the Tyosha. People like swimming, fishing there. They are not polluted. We have such possibilities that people of big overcrowded cities can not have.

But especially I want to tell about a recreational area around the village Dedovo. It is one of the most attractive places in our area. We have a beautiful lake with pure crystal water – Svyato . The lake is called Svyato because there is a legend. People say that a church was sunk in the middle of this place. A wonderful lake appeared instead of that church. The lake is surrounded by green trees: pines , birches, fir – trees. People call the forest – “Muromskiye lesa” . The forest is thick and rich.

Not far from the lake there is a church. And around the lake we have children summer camp ,a tourist camp ,a camp for kindergartens. The citizens of Navashino like to spend their free time in Dedovo.

Sergei Trofimov , a famous Russian singer likes to come to Dedovo . He organises festivals for the youth in Dedovo. And hundreds of people not only from Navashino ,  but from the other towns and cities of our country attend the festival “Forum”. We like his singing. He wrote a song called Navashino about our town.

And now I want to speak about a real wonder. Some months ago a picture of Bogoroditsa (Godness – mother of Orthodoxy) appeared on the surface of the lake. It was formed from the sand and water. Everyone saw it with own eyes and from the Internet.

Some beautiful lilies grew from the water. They were enormous  and colourful. Nobody had never seen such flowers in Dedovo. The local father of the church said that the God blessed Dedovo.

So I could say that Navashino deserves to be known not only in N. Novgorod region but also in the whole Russia and abroad. I would like tourists to visit Dedovo and Navashino.
