My favorite city is Karaganda. I live in Karaganda. Karaganda is the heart of Kazakhstan. To tell the truth, I love my country and my city very much, so I can’t really choose the best thing of all. I am proud that I was born here. There are a lot of buildings, shops, supermarkets, cinemas, restaurants in our city.  Karaganda is one of the main industrial centers of Kazakhstan. Our city is known by its coal. Because of it Karaganda is named like " the city of miners". You can visit lots of places like theatre, cinema, central park and others. Also there are many universities, colleges, schools and so on in Karaganda. The city is decorated with rich trees and beautiful flowerbeds.

Cultural life of the city is interesting and various.

There are more than 50 monuments of history and culture in the territory of the city: Karaganda regional museum of local history and ethnography, the Regional museum of fine arts, Ecological Museum ,Miners' Palace of Culture, Karaganda regional Kazakh drama theater  named after  S. Seyfullin, Karaganda regional drama theater named after  K. S. Stanislavsky, Karaganda academic theater of musical comedy.

 And now I want to describe some places of interest of our city.

Karaganda regional museum of local history and ethnography is important scientific and cultural center. The museum has opened in 1932 as polytechnic and in 1938 has been renamed in regional study of local history. In 1964 the museum of local lore has been renamed by the order of the Ministry of culture Kazakh SSR in museum of history and local lore. Since 1999 the museum is MSFE « Karaganda regional museum of history and local lore». In 2001–02 new exposition is constructed. In foyer of a museum the map of the Karaganda region is located. Here it is possible to receive the general information on territory, the population, physical-geographical features of region. The exposition of the first hall narrates about the basic stages of becoming of sovereign Kazakhstan, as acceptance of the Constitution. The exposition of an origin of life on the ground hall tells about natural riches of area, its features, unique monuments. The exposition " Culture of Karaganda region " acquaints visitors with creativity known people — national akyn D. Alimbaeva, the singers-composers A. Kashaubaeva, K. Bajzhanova. The hall " Becoming of the Karaganda coal basin " is devoted to history of construction of city of Karaganda, becoming and development of coal basin. The exposition of hall of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan devoted to activity of the Government,the Parliament, First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbaev with which name are connected all progressive transformations to Kazakhstan. For the Central Kazakhstan, for all Karaganda people is the big pride, that the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbaev began the work life on the Karaganda metallurgical complex and worked in Karaganda region twenty years during 1960 — 1980, and 9 years from them as the worker of the blast-furnace and more than ten years the party head of metallurgical combine Temirtau city and region. Photos and documents of an exposition brightly described Karaganda period in a life and activity of President N. A. Nazarbaev, as exclusively important stage in its personal biography and in history of rise of the Central Kazakhstan as a whole.

The Karaganda regional museum of fine arts was opened in September 1988, firstly like a department in the museum of history and local lore. And only in 1989 it got the status of the regional museum of fine art.

For the last several years the museum improved contacts with other museums of Kazakhstan. Every year the employers of the museum have an opportunity to get acquainted with an architectural sphere, with its peculiarity and specific of museums work: West Kazakhstan museum of art, Temirtau town museum of history and local lore, Petropavlsk’s museum of art, museum of modern art in Astana, Art museum of Russia. Exchange exhibitions between these museums by the result of such friendship demonstrate differences in art and culture of other regions of Kazakhstan and Far Abroad. There are 74 things of art in the sculpture section. All the exhibits are relate to the second part of the XX C. The sculpture of Karaganda is widely represented by the famous masters, honored worker of art of KazUSR – N. Gummel and A. Bilyk.

  Karaganda Ecological Museum is the only museum of this sort in the territory of our country. It is possible to learn about a variety of natural resources of Kazakhstan, their production, about history and modern danger of the Semipalatinsk nuclear range, about the spaceport Baykonur and crashes of rockets in the museum. In Ecological museum is collected the set of exhibits from all regions: parts of rockets and planes, production and military equipment of the Soviet and Post-Soviet period. You can see a unique item in the museum. A fuel tank of rocket Proton, fallen on the territory of Kazakhstan in 1999. The Ecomuseum is also a tourist information centre, where you can get detailed information about the sights of the city and region.

Miners' Palace of Culture is one of the symbols of Karaganda. Almost all holidays pass in Palace. The palace represents symmetric composition from three volumes. The central volume consists of a theatrical complex — the auditorium for 1000 places, a lobby, the top and bottom foyer, the top and lobby.

The architectural image of the building was affected by progressive forms of folk Kazakh art. The main facade of Palace of culture has three-axial symmetric composition. The central part of the building represents the powerful six-columned portico consisting of columns.

The portico is topped with six sculptures: the miner, the builder, the shepherd with a lamb, collective farmers with a sheaf, the akyn with dombra and the soldier.

Karaganda regional Kazakh drama theater named after  S. Seyfullin.

Theater constructed in style of the so-called postmodern combining lines of classical architecture and national style. The special attention is deserved by the transforming scene of theater created by the special order and state-of-the-art by the foreign producer.

The regional theater of the Kazakh drama exists since 1932. In 1964 the name of the outstanding figure of the Kazakh literature S. Seyfullin was appropriated to the theater. The theater put M. Auezov, G. Musrepov, S. Mukanovai's plays and plays of other Kazakh playwrights. At the IV republican festival in 1996 the Karaganda Kazakh drama theater won the second place. At the VII republican festival for performance according to G. Gorin's play "Atyn Shykpasa" the theater won "Grand Pri". Now 8 leading masters of a scene and 12 actors of the highest category are working at the theater.

Karaganda regional drama theater named after  K. S. Stanislavsky. The history of theater is unique and originates in 1930 when on the basis of an amateur propaganda team in Semipalatinsk the mobile theater on propaganda and cultural and mass work "The live newspaper", in 1932 transformed to mobile theater as a part of the Turksib political train was organized.

In 1962 the name of the great director K. S. Stanislavsky was appropriated to drama theater. In 1981 in honor of the fiftieth anniversary the theater was awarded the order of Friendship of the people. National actors of the Soviet Socialist Kazakh Republic V. F. Korniyenko, V. K. Borisov and others played on the stage of the theater.

Karaganda academic theater of musical comedy. On November 16, 1973  Karaganda theater of musical comedy was opened. Leading actors of the theater earlier worked in other cities of the USSR. Among them there was a national actor of RSFSR Igor Voynarovsky. In 2000, the theatre was awarded the high title of "Academic". Today, the theatre has continued to preserve the traditions and increase creativity, improve the skills of actors.

Karaganda is wonderful city and wonderful people live in it. For a short time my native city has remained on a high level and it is now one of the largest cities in Kazakhstan. Karaganda is independent, free and beautiful city.
