At the Football Match
Tom: The football match is going to be on! The match is Brazil – England. It’s a
grand game. Let’s see it together, dad.
Bob’s father: With pleasure! Tom, join us. I suppose, it will be the game of the
Bob: Oh, It’s cool! Though I like watching football matches at the stadium better
than on TV.
(Bob, Bob’s father and Tom are sitting in front of the TV set)
F.: The stadium is full today.
B.: How many people do you think there are?
T.: There are at least 5 thousand people there.
B.: Look, the score is nil-nil (0:0). Can our team score a goal?
F.: Oh, I wish England could win. People are shouting “Come on, England”! They have five minutes to go. Keep it up!
T.: Look! Smith has got the ball. He’s going like lightning towards Brazil goal.
Oh, go on!
B.: That Brazil centre-half tries to stop him!
F.: No, he won’t let anybody stop him.
T.: Ronaldo passed the ball to the inside right, a wonderful pass!
F.: Look! Our forward has got the ball. He is running to the Brazilian goal. The
Brazilian defender is next to him. Can he stop our forward?
B.: No, Smith is racing towards the goal again!
F.: He is going to shoot. He shoots. And it’s a goal! It’s a goal!
T.: What a shot! The goal-keeper hadn’t a chance. England scored.
F.: The score is one-nil. Our team is winning! The referee is blowing his whistle.
We have won!
T.: It was a splendid game!
