Annotation

When we are little kids our heroes are strong, brave and clever people. Becoming older the idea of “my hero” is radically changing. It`s a simple person from everyday`s life.

Matvey Titov is a person who lives in our town. He is not world-famous, but he is a very popular man among us.

A real contrast to the modern “lazy” lifestyle. He is an active person and an example to follow. A host, a student and a social worker…

Our teenagers can lead the same way of life and have Matvey as one of the examples . The purpose of  this work  is to demonstrate   this fact.

What is more, he is our townsman. He doesn`t live somewhere in America or Australia…

We can use all of this information at the meetings with young people or on our lessons. It is a good topic for optional class meetings .This is the  practical benefit of our work.

A HERO IS AMONG US

In today's modern times we hear the word hero all the time. The mass media throws the term around. Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Steve Jobs, Edward Snowdan and many other people have become sort of heroes, but what about the real hero?

Macmillan’s Dictionary defines the word hero as someone who has done something brave, for example saving a person’s life or risking their own life. The song Hero, popularized by Mariah Carey says that a hero lies in every one of us. A woman trapped in a burning house may consider the fireman who saved her a hero. A young child may perceive his Mum or Dad as a  hero.

When we are little kids our heroes are astronauts because they have to be strong, brave and clever. But later we realize that in fact our heroes are policemen, firemen or bodyguards because they protect us.

Becoming older the idea of “ my hero” is radically changing. Now  I understand that  for me an example to follow is not Steve Jobs or Naomi Campbell but a simple person who is sociable, shy and loving; whose deeds are kind and people-friendly.

My hero is  a person who lives in our town. He is not  world-famous, but he is a very popular  man  among us. We  interviewed him on-line. So,  what do we know about him?

It is  Matvej Titov.

 Matvej  was a student of our school, he went to school 17. Since that time he has been  already  an  active person and an example to follow . Matvej was responsible for  the school newsparer as an artist, was making interesting  projects in Geography and  Art. Beeing a school boy, at the age of 16-17,  he was  working on a local television as a correspondent. When I knew  it, that  surprised  me very much.

After school he  studied at the Perm Institute of Municipal Government. During his  study he was working on the local television as a host of the  local news and the talk – show “ Крупным планом”.

Now he is 26.  it is a graduated man and  a creative person who is  a member in the local council for young people, a candidate to the  reserve society of Berezniki and Perm Region,  a candidate to the Youth Parliament. So, we can say ,  Matvej is a social worker, as well.

 For now, our townsman doesn`t work for television, but creates a  fashion magazine together with  his friends, who share his ideas . The name of the magazine is “Филин. Неглупый глянец”. According to this name, the editor tells all of us about fashion and modern way of life, but he does it in other way, unlike the modern glossy magazines.

Every teenager has his or her own choice – to be a “coach-potato” or  to be an ambitious person,  but this teenager needs to be supported.

When I look at all Matvej`s deeds and  his way of  life, an extremely active way of  life I would say; I see that  for a young person  like me or like my friends, this is an excellent example to follow.  Activity, creation, intelligence, application and a good sense of humor are real   contrast to the modern “lazy” lifestyle.

Inspite of his youth this man has done many things not only for himself but for our town as well.

I`m not sure if Matvey knows these words, but his way of life demonstrates everyday`s heroism.

We agree with Mariah Carey`s words. A person should look inside his or her heart and find there all the strength to be a good guy. To be an example for your neighbors or for young   people. We don`t need any extraordinary traits. Everything is inside you and me. You and I can be an everyday hero!
