The restless young singer with the long red hair plays the part of 21-year-old Sophie, who lives on a Greek island with her mother Donna and wants to find out who her real father is before she marries.

After huge successes in London, Toronto, Melbourne, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco “MAMMA MIA!” is now being performed at the Hamburg Operetta House – the first non-English production. The curtain goes up almost every day to allow the audience to enjoy hits like “Take a Chance on Me”. The positive feel to the music soon has the audience singing along, and the show finishes with standing ovations every night.

Kathy is thrilled to be a musical star. Every evening she and the rest of the cast sing and dance in front of a different audience. The people who come to watch the musical expect to be entertained.

Before Kathy got a part in “MAMMA MIA!”, she trained as a musical performer. At the age of 14 she started singing lessons. She took [art in amateur dramatics, sang with school bands and danced on stage. “The fascinating thing about musicals is that they are a combination of singing, dancing and acting”, she explains. The training she did was tough, but she covered all “stage disciplines”. To conclude her studies, Kathy had to take a one-hour exam.

The way this musical came about is rather unusual. Normally, here is a story first and then the music is composed and songs written to accompany the plot. In the case of “MAMMA MIA!” it is the other way round. The songs were already successes before it dawned on anyone to make a musical. Even Bjorn Ulvaeus, composer of almost all ABBA’s hits, was thrilled to discover he had written the music for a musical he “didn’t know existed”.

Входной контроль (тест)  состоит из пяти разделов:

Часть 1 (базовый уровень): понимание общего содержания текста. Тип задания: установление соответствия; каждый заголовок соответствует только одному тексту, при этом, один заголовок лишний.

Часть 2 (повышенный уровень): умение находить запрашиваемую информацию. Тип задания: установление соответствия между вопросами и содержанием текстов; при этом, текстов на один больше, чем вопросов.

Часть 3 (высокий уровень): полное понимание связного текста. Тип задания: выбор правильного ответа из трех предложенных.

Часть 4 (грамматика, базовый уровень): восстановление пропущенного слова в связном тексте. Тип задания: выбор правильного ответа из четырех предложенных.

Часть 5 (лексика, повышенный уровень): восстановление пропущенного слова в связном тексте. Тип задания: словообразование.

Продолжительность работы - 60 минут. Работа – входная, проводится в начале учебного года. Контрольная работа имеет критерии оценивания результатов .  За каждый правильный ответ курсант получает 1 балл. Максимальное количество баллов – 30. Успешность выполнения работы определяется исходя из следующего соответствия:

27 – 30 баллов          -  «5» (отлично)

21 – 26 балла            -   «4» (хорошо)

13 -20 баллов            -  «3» (удовлетворительно)

12 и менее баллов      -  «2» (неудовлетворительно)

A. Most people who spend a holiday travelling take a camera with them and

the youth baseball experience for the entire family. The player improves his

skills and is more successful. The family enjoys the activity more and shares

this precious time in their life. Junior Baseball emphasizes good sportsmanship,

safety, physical fitness and wholesome family values.

D. The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison like industrial, nuclear and

chemical waste. The Mediterranean Sea is already nearly dead; the North Sea is

following it. The Aral Sea is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done about

it, one day nothing will be able to live in the seas. Every ten minutes one

species of animal, plant or insect dies out forever.

E. Lots of people all over the world enjoy collecting stamps. Stamps are like little

pictures. Very often they show the flowers or the trees which grow in this or

that country, or they can show different kinds of transport of the country.

Stamps may also have portraits of famous people on them. Some stamps show

art work from the history of the country.

F. “Friend” is the title of my favourite magazine. It consists of 70 pages, with lots

of colourful and bright pictures and provides interesting and useful information

for people who love animals. The magazine includes numerous articles devoted

to various topics connected with domestic animals, ways to take care of them,

pet food, animal health and many other topics crucial for any animal lover.

G. People are beginning to realize that environmental problems are not just

somebody else’s. Many people join and support various international

organizations and green parties. What could be more important than human

life? Polluted air, poisoned water, wastelands, noise, smoke – all these

influence not only nature but people as well. Everything should be done to

improve ecological conditions on our planet.

До последнего времени было принято оканчивать каждую строчку адреса запятой, а весь адрес точкой. В настоящее время эта практика несколько устарела и адрес пишется без запятых в конце строчек и без точки в конце.

Адрес получателя пишется так же, как и адрес отправителя, и располагается в левой части страницы, несколько ниже строки с датой.

Перед фамилией лица, которому вы направляете письмо (если, конечно, это не ваш родственник или хорошо знакомый), должна обязательно ставиться одна из трех форм: Mr., Mrs., Miss. Без фамилии эти формы не употребляются, а после форм Mr., Mrs., как правило, ставится точка.

3. Дата отправления чаще всего указывается в правом верхнем углу, сразу же под адресом отправителя (если он есть).

Существует несколько вариантов написания даты:

Первый вариант в настоящее время наиболее употребителен.

В дате не ставятся ни предлоги, ни определенный артикль (за исключением официальных писем и деловых документов). После даты точка, как правило, опускается.

Названия месяцев часто пишутся сокращенно:

February         — Feb.,           June                — Jun.,             October         —Oct.,

April               — Apr,           August            — Aug./ Ag., November  -Nov.,

4. Как и форма обращения, заключительная формула вежли­вости зависит от того, кому вы пишете письмо. Однако в англий­ском письменном этикете в настоящее время используется более или менее общая формула Sincerely yours, которая в зависимости от тона всего письма может восприниматься и как строго офици­альная, и как менее официальная, и как совершенно неофициаль­ная. На русский язык эта формула переводится в зависимости от ситуации как 'С уважением' или 'Искренне Ваш/ Искренне твой'. Эта формула может иметь несколько вариантов:

Always sincerely yours и т.д.

Наряду с приведенными выше в официальной и деловой пе­реписке используются формы:

После заключительной формулы вежливости ставится запя­тая, на следующей строке пишется имя или фамилия.

Критерии оценок

Письменный зачет  состоит из четырех заданий:

1-е задание направлено на проверку знаний лексических единиц, умение использовать языковую догадку, ориентироваться в содержании текста.

2-е задание направлено на проверку умения заполнять документацию, связанную с профессиональной деятельностью и выделять главную мысль в прочитанном.

3-е и 4-е задания направлены на контроль грамматических знаний.

Продолжительность работы - 60 минут. Работа – итоговая, проводится в конце 7 семестра. Работа имеет критерии оценивания результатов.  За каждый правильный ответ курсант получает 1 балл. Максимальное количество баллов – 23. Успешность выполнения работы определяется исходя из следующего соответствия:

21 –23балла          -  «5» (отлично)

18 – 20 баллов            -   «4» (хорошо)

13 -17 баллов            -  «3» (удовлетворительно)

12  и менее баллов      -  «2» (неудовлетворительно)

The work of police.

1. The main aim of police is to maintain public order.
2. The police are composed of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Criminal Detection Department, the Economic Crimes Department.
3. The duties of  a police officer at a crime scene is to protect the Scene and prevent anybody from touching any object.
4. The two major stages of  investigation  are preliminary investigation and the follow-up   investigation.

      5. - arresting a suspect or suspects;

          - helping a victim;

          - securing the crime scene to prevent loss of evidence;

          - collecting physical evidence and preparing a preliminary report.

2.      The two major stages of investigating a crime are the preliminary investigation and the follow-up   investigation.

4.      A police officer must be a detective or an investigating officer.

5.      The investigator interrogates the suspect.

1. The modern police officers use a wide variety of tools. Handcuffs, guns, gloves and radios are used regularly.

Деловое письмо.

1. 1) Адрес отправителя (sender's address).

2) Дата (date).

3) Адрес получателя (inside address).

4) Обращение (salutation).

5) Зачин, или первая фраза (opening sentence).

6) Текст письма (body of the letter).

7) Заключительная фраза (closing sentence).

8) Заключительная формула вежливости (complimentary close).

9) Подпись отправителя (signature).

10) Постскриптум, т.е. приписка к оконченному письму (P.S. или Postscript).

2. Адрес отправителя в английском письме пишется в правом верхнем углу страницы, хотя часто его можно видеть и в левом верхнем углу.В анг­лийском письме номер дома в адресе ставится перед названием улицы, а название города — после названия улицы. Между номе­ром дома и названием улицы запятая не ставится. Например:

До последнего времени было принято оканчивать каждую строчку адреса запятой, а весь адрес точкой. В настоящее время эта практика несколько устарела и адрес пишется без запятых в конце строчек и без точки в конце.

Адрес получателя пишется так же, как и адрес отправителя, и располагается в левой части страницы, несколько ниже строки с датой.

Перед фамилией лица, которому вы направляете письмо (если, конечно, это не ваш родственник или хорошо знакомый), должна обязательно ставиться одна из трех форм: Mr., Mrs., Miss. Без фамилии эти формы не употребляются, а после форм Mr., Mrs., как правило, ставится точка.

3. Дата отправления чаще всего указывается в правом верхнем углу, сразу же под адресом отправителя (если он есть).

Существует несколько вариантов написания даты:

September 7, 1996

September 7th, 1996

7 September, 1996

7th September, 1996

Первый вариант в настоящее время наиболее употребителен.

В дате не ставятся ни предлоги, ни определенный артикль (за исключением официальных писем и деловых документов). После даты точка, как правило, опускается.

Названия месяцев часто пишутся сокращенно:

January           — Jan.,           May                — May,             September    — Sept.,

February         — Feb.,           June                — Jun.,             October         —Oct.,

April               — Apr,           August            — Aug./ Ag., November  -Nov.,

March — Mar.,          July                 — Jul.,   December     — Dec.

  4. Форма обращения в письме зависит от степени знакомства или родственных связей с лицом, которому вы адресуете письмо. Так, к друзьям или хорошо знакомым вы обращаетесь:

К малознакомым или незнакомым людям:

            В строго официальных по тону и содержанию письмах вы пишете:

My dear Sir:                                       Глубокоуважаемый сэр/  господин!

My dear Madam:                               Глубокоуважаемая мадам/ госпожа!

В официальных письмах незнакомым людям, фамилий кото­рых вы не знаете, используются следующие формы:

Sir:                                                      Сэр/ Господин!

Dear Sir,                                             Уважаемый сэр/ господин!

Dear Sirs,                                           Уважаемые господа!

Gentlemen:                                        Господа!

Dear Sir or Madam:                          Уважаемый сэр/ господин или

5. Зачин письма обычно состоит из слов благодарности за полу­ченное ранее письмо или из каких-либо других фраз в зависимо­сти от ситуации. Список наиболее часто употребляемых фраз:

Thank you/ thank you very much/ thank you ever so much for your kind/ warm letter of May 15.

Many thanks for your kind and warm letter of July 16.

Thank you for your letter concerning John's visit to...

I recieved your letter yesterday...

I was delighted to receive your letter.

I appreciate your kind words.

I am sincerely/ truly grate­ful to you for...

I regret very much that I did not have an opportunity to thank you personally for...

6. Как и форма обращения, заключительная формула вежли­вости зависит от того, кому вы пишете письмо. Однако в англий­ском письменном этикете в настоящее время используется более или менее общая формула Sincerely yours, которая в зависимости от тона всего письма может восприниматься и как строго офици­альная, и как менее официальная, и как совершенно неофициаль­ная. На русский язык эта формула переводится в зависимостиот ситуации как 'С уважением' или 'Искренне Ваш/ Искренне твой'. Эта формула может иметь несколько вариантов:

Sincerely,

Sincerely yours,

Very sincerely yours,

Yours sincerely,

Yours very sincerely,

Always sincerely yours и т.д.

Наряду с приведенными выше в официальной и деловой пе­реписке используются формы:

Yours truly/ Yours very truly,                       Преданный Вам

(формально и официально)

Truly yours/ Very truly yours,                      Преданный Вам

(несколько менее формально, но также официально)

После заключительной формулы вежливости ставится запя­тая, на следующей строке пишется имя или фамилия.

Критерии оценки к зачёту:

18 – 20 баллов           -  «5» (отлично)

14 – 17  баллов          -   «4» (хорошо)

 10 - 13 баллов           -    «3» (удовлетворительно)

9 и менее баллов        -   «2» (неудовлетворительно)
