Требования к обучению грамматике в свете коммуникативно-функционального подхода сводятся в общих чертах к следующему:

  1. материал для обучения грамматике должен отражать естественное использование языка в общении без искусственных примеров и надуманных ситуаций;
  2. в учебном материале следует четко выделять формальные, семантические и функциональные аспекты, для того чтобы учащиеся могли установить связь между ними в определенных контекстах;
  3. грамматический материал целесообразно предъявлять в доступном объеме с целью возможности его закрепления в новых контекстах;
  4. введению нового материала необходимо предпосылать повторение ранее усвоенного и широко использовать в качестве опоры иллюстративную наглядность, схемы, таблицы и др.;
  5. пояснения и правила  должны быть краткими, точными и простыми, адекватно отражающими специфику грамматического материала;
  6. для закрепления грамматических явлений следует использовать различные виды общения, в том числе парную и групповую работу.

Грамматические навыки могут быть компонентами как экспрессивных (продуктивных) коммуникативных умений говорения и письма, так и рецептивных умений аудирования и чтения
