Teacher says, “We are going to have a competition and find out who knows more about the English language.” Teacher divides students into small groups of 5-6 students and says, “Think of a name for your group.”
Students think of the names for their groups, and the teacher puts the names onto the board.
Doing the quiz
To extend students’ knowledge about English.
Teacher distributes the quiz. Students work in groups. They read the questions, discuss them in their groups, and write the correct answers.
To check students’ answers
Teacher asks the first team to read the first question and give their answer. A student from the first group reads the question and says which answer the group has chosen. Teacher listens, but does not say whether the answer is correct or not. Teacher asks other groups to say which answer they have chosen. When all the groups say which answer they think is the correct one, the teacher provides the correct answer and gives one point to all teams that gave the same answer.
The teacher asks the second group to read the second question and say which answer they think is the correct one. Then the teacher repeats the procedure described in step 1 until all the questions in the quiz are checked.
