St Patrick’s Day

Цель: формирование межкультурной компетенции

Задачи:

• воспитывать интерес к культуре стран изучаемого языка;
• учить применять коммуникативные умения и навыки адекватно речевой ситуации;
• развивать механизм антиципации, а также внимание, память и мышление;
• совершенствовать навыки работы в команде

Оборудование:

• Компьютер, проектор, колонки
• Декор (зелёные шарики, зелёная шляпа, фото и плакаты по теме, комплект жетонов с изображением трилистника, комплект жетонов с изображением Лепрекона, комплект жетонов с изображением золотых монет)
• Раздаточный материал для работы в командах (кроссворды, трилистники из бумаги для пожеланий)
• Призы (зелёные конфетки, жвачки и т.д.)

Участники: учащиеся 7-х классов.

Подготовка мероприятия:

• Учащиеся вместе украшают класс атрибутами праздника зелёного цвета (трилистниками, леприконами, шариками, плакатами, фото и т.д.).
• «Гости» мероприятия – учащиеся параллельного класса – готовят материал для презентации.

Ход мероприятия

Учащиеся приглашаются в класс, разделяются на команды «Shamrocks» и «Leprechauns».

Teacher: Welcome to our St Patrick’s Day party everyone! To begin with, let’s listen to [Pupil] who will tell us more about this holiday.

Guest 1: Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated each year on March 17th.  Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland as he was the one who brought Christianity to the Irish.

Guest 2: Originally St. Patrick’s Day was a religious feast (церковный праздник) celebrated only in Ireland. Today,  approximately 1 million people take part in Ireland‘s St. Patrick’s Festival in Dublin every year. The Irish People wear red hair and green caps. Some of them take a green shamrock with themselves and national flags.

Guest 3: St. Patrick’s Day is the patron of Ireland. He was born in Wales. At the age of 16, he was sold into slavery to Ireland where he turned to religion. He escaped slavery and returned to Ireland as a missionary of Christianity. Saint Patrick is also known for driving the snakes away from Ireland. St. Patrick died on March 17 in 461.

Guest 4: Green is the official colour of St. Patrick’s Day. That’s why on this day all people wear something green. The citizens of Chicago go even further: they dye the Chicago River green for some hours.

Guest 5: According to the legend, Saint Patrick He used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. The shamrock is a symbol of the holiday. It is widely used in different decorations: pastries, party invitations, necklaces and etc. In Ireland there is a tradition to fasten a shamrock to clothes.

Guest 6: Another important symbol of the day is the leprechaun, an elf-like creature from Irish folklore. He has a pot of gold well hidden at the end of the rainbow. If caught by a man, he will promise great wealth if allowed to go free.

Guest 7: Irish dancing is also known as a jig. Irish dancing is notable for its rapid leg movements, body and arms being kept largely stationary. It became popular in the 1990s thanks to the world-famous «River dance» show. Irish dances are accompanied by playing of bagpipes and harp. The dance is still the part of social culture in Ireland. There is a lot of dancing on the Saint Patrick’s Day.

Учитель приглашает команды поучаствовать в викторине. Первое задание – кроссворд. Задание выполняется в командах на скорость.
На доску проецируются вопросы викторины, команды отвечают, кто быстрее. Учитель ведёт счёт.

Учитель объявляет победителя. Все участники награждаются призами. Победители получают диплом.

Участники выбирают пожелания из предложенных на доске, оформляют их на листочке клевера и дарят друг другу.
