How I bought an umbrella
One day I decided to buy an umbrella for
my girl-friend. Hers was broken. Her favourite colour was light green.
I came into a haberdashery and began to
choose. There were umbrellas of different colours but I couldn’t find a light
green one. A shop assistant was polite and patient.
Suddenly I saw a light green handle of the
umbrella on the upper shelf. It was high and a shop assistant couldn’t get it.
I tried to help him. I reached a top shelf and pulled a handle. And accidentally
pushed /snagged/ a box of buttons. It fell down and all buttons ran away. I
slipped on them, fell down and hurt my arm badly. The shop assistant watched me
with reproach.
When I was sitting on the floor with my
injured arm, an umbrella with a light green handle banged me on my head. I took
it. You know, it was all black except a handle. Deep black. Whole black as
night.
