Цель: развитие навыка устной речи, речевое взаимодействие для решения обмена мнениями и решения проблемы, введение и активизация лексических единиц по теме «Наука и техника»
Социокультурный аспект — рассмотреть понятие «Наука и Техника в современном мире», заинтересовать учеников, вовлечь их в диалог, вести обсуждения, грамотно аргументировать свою позицию, обсуждать любую их предложенных тем, повысить культурность речи.

Sub-Aims: keep students interested and motivated to speak
Personal Aims: to give clear tasks, to grade functional phrases according to the group’s level
Materials: student bookб handoutsStudents might have some difficulties using functional phrases to express their opinion
Students might have some difficulties with new words: science, natural forces, scientific study, earth surface, invent, Venus
Provide students with functional phrases and give their clear explanation
Use pre-teaching vocab.

Motivate and engage Ss for speaking task
Teacher shows the students photoes of famouse scientists and some inventions and ask what they have already know about it and what we are going to discuss during the lesson. Ss should use the structures:
I suppose it might be....
I think it is....
I am sure it is....
I am not sure but I think it is....
Teacher reveals Ss the truth about the pictures and finds out about the words students might know to use during the lesson.
Teacher asks students to do the quiz and check their ideas in pairs.
Teacher provides Ss with some functional phrases. Ss should use:
What answer have you got in number 1?
I am not sure but I think it might be (a).
I am sure it is (b)
I fully agree with you.
It might be true, but I have got another idea.
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you.

Teacher gives students the right answers and finds out if they were the same.
Work in groups
Teacher divide Ss into groups of 5-6 and asks them to do the following task: one group read the name of the science and other group are supposed to give the definition of it. Then groups swap the role.
Students are asked to read the texts p.9 Ex. 6 for specific information and answer the questions:
What is science and what is technology.
What is the main difference between them
Teacher give students homework (prepare a short essay about any famous invention and about the scientist who invented it).
Students and teacher discuss the lesson. Teacher gives the marks for the lesson.

What did you like best?
