Why Do People
Travel?
1. Организационный
момент.
Please,
take an envelope; do not open it until I say.
Hello.
Nice to see all of you. How do you do?
Take
your seats.
2. Вводная
беседа. Актуализация знаний.
Look
at the board. What do you see? A map and a suitcase. What are we going to talk
about today?
We
are starting a new Unit – TRAVELLING.
Do
you like travelling?
Why
do you travel?
And
today we are going to talk about why (the reasons) people travelled ages ago. What
made them leave home for places they had never been to.
Look
at Slide 2.
Who
are these three people? They are famous travelers and explorers. Can you name
them?
Today
three of you will become the famous travelers and the others will become
members of your teams. In the end, you will have to write a report on your
travelling to the Head of you country.
But
before we start, let’s make sure that you know how we travel, what means of
transport do we use.
Look
at Slide 3.
We
can travel in different environments. By land, by sea and by air. What do we
use to travel by land?
На доске написаны клише вопросов и ответов:
(опросить 4 ученика)
?
Have you ever travelled by land/by sea/by air? ~ Yes, I have.
?
When did you travel and what transport did you use?
When
do we use the preposition ON/BY? ~ We use ON when legs are used and we use BY
when legs are not used))
Take
the worksheets. Open it. You can see the same outline in there.
Do
you like travelling? Where do you travel? If you travel to another city or to
another country, do you ride a horse or take a steam locomotive? Of course not.
Why?
Because
means of travelling have developed a lot. Travelling now have become much
easier and safer
Look
at Slide 4.
In
your Worksheets make up a timeline. Match a transport and a date. I will do one
for you.
On
the board – a steamship – Aaron Manby – 1821
Have
you done the task? Now have a check (slide 5). Who has done the task
perfectly? Correct the mistakes.
Now
that we know what means of travelling people used an use now, let’s get it
started!
So
you will work in 3 groups. Open the envelopes I gave you at the beginning of
the lesson.
