Lesson Plan ” Articles” ( УМК ‘Starlight 5’)

Aim : practice grammar

Targets:

·        Elicit the previous knowledge on the topic articles

·        Teach new grammar rules

·        Practice

Method : test- teach-test approach

Stage	Procedure	Outcome
warmer	Ask one student to leave the classroom and together with the class hide a toy somewhere in the class. When the student comes back  ask him to find it. Students give directions to him so that he can find the toy.	Students give directions. ( For example, - go straight, turn left, go to the third desk,go opposite the bookcase etc.
Lead in	Teacher :At the previous lesson we’ve received an email from  Billy. Read it again and find all the examples of articles there. Say why the articles are used.	P 34 ex 2. SS answer.
Test	Teacher : Look at the walls. You can see texts with gaps. Fill in the gaps with your partner . Each pair of students is given a  number ( 1-6). They fill in the gaps only in the sentences that refer to their number. ( Supplement 1)	Pair work. Students fill in the gaps then go to the next paper and fill in the gaps. In  turns.
Teach	Use supplement 2.Put the cards with tha tasks on the board and put the cards  of supplement 2 on the board. Ask students to match the rules with the examples.	Pair work. Match the rules and examples.
Test	Do exercise from supplement 3 in pairs. Do feedback as a class and comment if there are any mistakes.	Pair work
Project.	You ll need a large paper and markers. Students should create a mind-map with the rules studied at the lesson	Group work. ( If there is no time it can be given as a hometask.)
