Theme: Wild animals

Aims :

  • Educational aim: to help pupils to learn wild animals, to practice speaking and listening skills

  • Teaching aim: to teach the pupils, to develop pupils vocabulary and use wild animals in their discussions in English;

  • Developing aim: to introduce wild animals and help pupils to pronounce them correctly..

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the lesson pupils will:

  • know wild animals in English

  • be able to speak about their favourite wild animals

  • know and use grammar construction I like (I don’t like)

Target language: bear, wolf, lion, elephant, eagle, monkey, snake, frog, hog, goose.

Type of lesson: communicative

Methodology: Inductive

Interaction : individual work, the whole class work

Materials: board, colored cards, worksheets, speaker, mobile phone;

Procedure of the lesson.

  1. Organization moment

Greeting.

Time: 2 minutes

  1. Warming up

Activity 1. Look and answer.

Objective:

  • to review names of domestic animals.

Time: 5 minutes

Materials: flashcards of a goat, a cat, a dog, a horse , a goose.

  • Ask PP to look at the picture and answer the question “What is it?”

  1. Pre-activity

Activity 2. Listen and repeat.

Objectives:

  • to help pupils to recognize names of the wild animals

  • to help them to saying of the words

Time: 5 minutes

Materials: flashcards of a bear, a wolf, an elephant, a lion, an eagle, a monkey, a snake, a frog, a hog and a duck.

  • Read the words and ask PP to repeat after you.

Activity 3. Listen and guess.

Objective:

  • to consolidate the names of the wild animals

Time: 5 minutes

Materials: mobile phone and speaker.

  • Ask PP to listen to some voices of animals and guess them.

  1. While-activity

Activity 4. Listen and match.

Objective:

  • to develop pupils’ listening skills

Time: 7 minutes

Materials: mobile phone and speaker ,worksheets.

  • The teacher distributes some cards with the wild animals and colour points. Then the teacher should explain the rules of the task.

The rules are:

PP listen to “speaker “. PP hear the “colour” and name of the animal. They should match the colour drop to the picture of the animal. For example : “blue” and “bear”

Activity 5. Look and read.

Objective: to introduce spelling and pronunciation of the wild animals’ names

Time: 5 minutes

Materials: flashcards of wild animals with their names.

  • Ask PP to look at the pictures and read the names of the animals with you .(teacher shows the pictures with names of animals and pronounces with children.

Activity 6. Grammar point.

Objective:

  • to present construction “I like… I don’t like”. To consolidate the new phrases new words.

Time: 6 minutes

Materials: flashcards

  • Ask PP to look at the pictures of the wild animals

  • Teacher starts to talk about her likes or dislikes using new phrases and facial expresses with gestures with the help of inductive method the teacher helps PP to understand new phrases.

  1. Post-activity.

Activity 7. Look and do.

Objective:

  • to develop pupils’ writing skills

Time: 8 minutes

Materials: worksheets

  • Teacher distributes the sheets of paper with new words. These words are uncompleted. Ask PP to connect the dots. Do the same with all words. (Teacher shows an example from the activity.)

  1. Giving homework.

Ask the pupils to write the names of wild animals independently

  1. Giving marks. For active pupils.

Conclusion: Do you like our lesson? Well! The lesson is over, good bye.
