knows a human being cannot live without air, water and food. So we can say food
plays one of the most important roles in our life.
Some people pay too much attention to their food. And we call them gourmets.
The others on the contrary don’t pay attention to the food they eat. They
have very simple taste. Some people eat too much. And some on the contrary keep
a diet. Having rephrased a famous proverb one can say «So many men, so many
ways of eating». Guys, what is the topic of our lesson?
Students: Eating.
Food.
Teacher: You
are right. Every nation, every country has its own particular features. And
Britain has them as well. And today we are going to talk about ways of eating
in Britain. Also we are going to see films and compare British and Russian cuisine.
Well, the theme of our today’s lesson is Food in Britain.

read the following sayings of some famous people and translate them:
“Coffee in England always
tastes like a chemistry experiment”.
(Agatha Christie)
Students:
Кофе в Англии всегда напоминает по вкусу химический эксперимент.
“In
England there are sixty different religions and only one sauce.”
(Romenico Caraciola,

В Англии 60 различных религий и только один соус.

3) беседа
по
тексту
Teacher: Of
course, it’s a joke. But many a true word is spoken in jest. I would like you to
write down these sayings.
We have read that visitors of Britain agree about one thing. What thing?
Students: British cooking is terrible.
Teacher: We
can agree or disagree, but it’s a fact. The British cuisine is considered to be
not very tasty. The types of eating in Britain have changed a lot over the past
twenty years for several reasons. For example, people have come to Britain from
different parts of the world (especially from ex- colonies), bringing their
favourite food with them and opening restaurants. The British themselves have
travelled to other countries and brought new food back home. Nevertheless we
can still find traditional food in Britain. What traditional British meals do
you know?
Students: Roast beef, fish and chips, Scottish porridge, eggs and bacon.
Teacher: People
eat on average 3 times a day. First meal is breakfast.
Guys, raise your hands, who has breakfast in the morning?
What do you usually have for breakfast?

Teacher: We
have already known today’s English breakfast is more likely to be nothing. What
do you know about it?
Students: Some people in Britain like to go to work on an egg. It means
they eat an egg for breakfast before going to work.
Teacher:
One person in five has for breakfast only a cup of coffee. One person in ten
has an English breakfast. Guys, what does it mean an English breakfast?
What does it consist of?
Students: It
consists of bacon and eggs, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans , toast and tea.
You can see in the
pictures how it looks like: fried eggs, bacon, fried toast, fried tomatoes. Everything
is unhealthy, but delicious I suppose. And breakfast can include cornflakes ,
toast with butter or marmalade. In this case it is called a full English breakfast.
