Good morning,
children. Let’s start our lesson.
A few days ago
me and my students decided to create a new page for a school web-site. This
page should be about fashion. I know that you’ve already talked about it at
your English lessons. So I ask you to help me with this difficult subject.
Here you can see
a model of a new page. As you can see it consists of three parts: “teens’
fashion”, “problem page” and “future fashion”. Before we start working on the
page, let’s think what exactly fashion is. So what words do associate with
Fashion?
As you can see
Fashion is a very wide concept. It affects a lot of things and activities in
our life. What are they? What things in our lives depend on fashion?

You can see that
there are a lot of things connected with fashion. But what is the most
important one? Yes, clothes. Clothes depend a lot on it. Clothes are quite
important in teens’ lives. But teens’ fashion is very special. We can prove
it if we look closely at youth subculture. Do you understand this word?
There are a lot
of different kinds of subculture in the UK. And first we will watch a video
about a very famous place. This place is extremely popular among young
creative people. You should watch the video very attentively and be ready to
answer
my questions. Read them now to yourselves and ask me if you have
any unknown words.

is famous for fashion. What pieces of clothing have you seen in this video?
What other
pieces of clothing do you know?
Very well! But
let’s return to the punks? Do punks have their own style? What can you say
about their clothes? What type of clothes do they usually wear? What
materials do they prefer? Do they choose any special patterns? Look at the
whiteboard. There are some clues for you.
As you can see
there are some other words which can be useful when we want to describe
somebody’s clothes. Let’s put them into the right group.

mini-dictionary on clothes.
Thank you very
much! At last I realized who punks are. But actually there are a lot of other
kinds of subcultures. And I don’t know anything about them. What are their
styles? What clothes do they usually wear? What haircuts do they have?
Please, help me! I’ll give you some photos and you will write the typical
features of this kind of subculture and then read your description to the
class. The class should guess what you are talking about. Use your
mini-dictionary.

us for help. You can find her letter on your desks. Please, read her e-mail
and tell me what her problem is.

groups and try to help Julia. What can she do? How can she have her own style
and save money?
