Today at our lesson we will try to discuss the theme “Is it easy оr difficult to be young? “Today Students are divided into two groups and they will try to improve their points of view.

As you know everything in Nature has its beginning, development and ending. I mean each creature is born, lives then dies. The humans have young age, middle age and old age.

I’d like to mention that each age has its beauty and charm, its positive sides. But unfortunately, a medal has two sides. So we’ll have to speak about good and bad sides of being young too. In another words we are going to speak about ups and downs of the age.

Teenage years

feel unhappy

What can you say about your generation?

We are a generation of very rapid and complicated life with technological, scientific and social changes. Too many new things and information is appearing every day. We must know everything: about cultural, political, economical and scientific events. It’ not easy for an adult person because demands a lot of time and efforts. For teens it’s much more difficult because they want everything and at the moment. They want to enjoy life, be independent, earn money… .

Young generation I see has a lot of ambitions.

Can you continue the list of teens’ life ambitions?

1. Teens’ ambitions (2min)

(they want to…)

But can they (teens) achieve their aim? Is it easy to do all the things they want?

Of course, not. What problems do the young face to (meet, have) on their way?

It’s really so many teens’ problems. Like any citizen in Kazakhstan every teenager has not only rights but duties. Of course, there are different kinds of problems. What are they?

(Dealing with friends, parents, teachers at school, classmates, dating, joining the army, getting a job, having not enough money, watching violent films, dieting and even being young) Let’s discuss some of them!

2. Teens’ problems: (2min)

5. Role-play "Psychologists"(6min)

Teacher: As far as I know some of you like to read youth magazines. You can find so-called problem pages where you read teens letters, some complains, advice. Today I`ve got two teens letters from the magazine "Speak out". Pretend you are psychologists. Read the letters attentively and give your advice to these teens. You can use key-words and of course your ideas.

Don’t forget to use linking words : I think, I believe, I suppose, As for me, To my mind, In my opinion, Besides, In addition to that, To sum it up, In conclusion).

LETTERS FROM TEENS.

1. Dear psychologists,

My name is Martin. I’m 16. I’ve got many problems at college. In fact, I hate college . I hate doing homework. I don’t feel comfortable with my collegemates. They call me names (дают прозвища) because I’m too tall and pale.

What should I do? Please, give me advice.

2. Dear psychologists,

My name’s Susan. I’m 17. My parents don’t understand me. They think, my favorite music is too loud, my clothes are very strange, my make-up is too bright. No one listens to me! They only grumble (ворчат). I’m fed up with it! (сыт по горло).

What can you advise me?

Bye,
Susan.

Is It Easy to Be Young?

контрольная работа по проверке пройденного лексического и грамматического материала к уроку 4 учебника В.П. Кузовлева Английский язык.

1. Подберите к каждому тексту подходящий по смыслу заголовок. Один заголовок лишний(8min).

1. Teenagers’ Interests
2. Do Teenagers Have Problems?
3. Typical American Teenagers.
4. Are Teenagers a Problem?
5. What is a Teenager?

A. Officially, a teenager is anyone aged from 13 to 19 inclusively, but most people would probably think first of the younger age group and exclude 18 and 19-year-olds. After all, once you reach 18 you can vote, get married without your parents’ permission, and join the army

B. According to ‘the older generation’, teenagers are lazy, they wear ridiculous clothes, and are appallingly rude to their betters and elders

C. Teenagers are human so, of course, they have problems. It is a difficult time for them because it is a period of transformation. It isn’t quite as bad as a chrysalis changing into a butterfly, but it may seem like that

D. Typical American teenagers think their teachers make them work too hard; they love their parents, but are sure they don’t understand anything; and their friendships are the most important things in their lives. Some of them do have a lot of money to spend, but usually they have earned it themselves.

2. Заполните пропуски подходящими по смыслу словами из рамки.

ADVICE 2: Do something for someone else. The people you are helping will think you are something special.
ADVICE 3: Keep notes of your problems. You can do it in code if you worry about privacy. By the end of the month , you will see how many problems you really can solve
ADVICE 4: Allow yourself to fail. We do learn from experience. Each failure teaches us something.
ADVICE 5: Work out your own motto. For example, "I am doing my best.", "I am a great person". Repeat it wherever you start feeling blue.
