Внеурочное мероприятие по английскому языку

на тему:

English-speaking countries. Australia”

в 8 классе

Тема: “English-speaking countries. Australia”


Форма проведения: внеурочное мероприятие.


Цели:

  1. Знакомство с особенностями жизни англоязычной страны; совершенствование лексических навыков.

  2. Формирование и развитие учебно-информационных умений, расширение словарного запаса.

  3. Поддержание интереса к английскому языку как средству общения, формирование положительного отношения культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Задачи:

  • активизировать лексический материал

  • тренировать в употреблении лексического материала

  • обучать воспринимать текст на слух.


Оснащение: политическая карта мира, записи на доске, буклеты, карточки с заданиями, компьютерная презентация.


Структура мероприятия.

  1. Организационный момент. Целеполагание.

  2. Подготовка к основному этапу.

А) Фонетическая зарядка.

Б) Речевая зарядка.

  1. Основной этап.

  2. Рефлексия.

  3. Подведение итогов.















Ход мероприятия


  1. Организационный момент. Целеполагание.

    • Good afternoon, boys and girls, today we go on speaking about Australia. Two teams take part in our contest. The first team is Canberra. The second team is Sydney. You have already learnt several facts about the history and geographical position of the country. Today we are going to learn some more interesting facts about the largest island and the smallest continent in the world and answer the question: Why is Australia called “The land down under”? (Слайд 1)

    • Let’s study the geographical map of the world and find Australia on it.



  1. Подготовка к основному этапу.

А) Фонетическая зарядка.

The plan is flying very fast,

And we are so glad,

To come to Australia to see

The beauty of this land.



Б) Речевая зарядка.

- Would you like to visit this country?

- Why?

- Would you like to learn more about it?



  1. Основной этап.

- Now I’d like you to look through the presentation “Australia – the Land Down Under”. (Слайд 2)

- Let’s learn some more interesting facts about the largest island and the smallest continent in the world. Be ready to answer my questions concerning every aspect of the problem.

  1. Where is Australia situated?

  2. What is its official language?

  3. Is it an island or a continent?

  4. How many states and territories are there in Australia?

  5. When was Australia discovered?

  6. Who was the first to open the continent for the English?

  7. Why is Australia called “a land of striking differences”?

  8. Are there a lot of people live in Australia?

  9. Which part of the continent is inhabited most? Why?

- Let’s go back to the map and statistics. Brazil has nearly area – about 8 square kilometers. Let’s compare the population density of Australia and Brazil. As you have already known, very few people live in Australia. Most of them live on narrow coasts of the east & south-east. Let’s show it on the map.

  1. What do the Australian do during the Christmas holidays?

  2. Can you explain why the wildlife of the country is considered to be unique?

  3. What is unusual about it?

  4. Name the species of animals that can be found only in Australia.

Физкультминутка

- You’ve just got to know that Australia has an extraordinary collection of birds and animals. Many of them are found only there. Study the booklet “Australian Wildlife Facts” about the unique species of animals and say if my statements are true or false.

  1. Red kangaroos are the fastest animals in Australia.

  2. “Bungarra” is the local name of Australian lizards.

  3. Baby koalas first live in the pouch and then ride on their mother’s back.

  4. Emus can fly and run up to 60 km per hour.

  5. Kookaburras live for 20 years or more.

  6. Cockatoos prefer eating seeds and nuts.

- Now I would like to show a short film about Australia.

  1. In the East Australia is washed by this ocean.

  2. A large Australian animal with a strong tail and back legs that moves by jumping.

  3. A state in Australia situated in the northeast of the continent.

  4. An Australian bird famous for the laughing sound it makes.

  5. A large Australian bird that runs quickly but can’t fly.

  6. A lizard that lives in the warmer parts of Australia.

  7. In Australia people celebrate Christmas in this season.

  8. An Australian animal with grey fir and large ears that lives in trees and eats leaves.
