Teacher Our President pays a lot of attention to the development of sport in our Republic. We have many great sportsmen. And now I’d like to ask you Who is your favorite sportsman?

Мусабаева Малена: When EvgenyPlushenko was four years old, he wanted to play ice hockey. He started skating and loved it. Evgeny won his first medal in 1998 at the age of fifteen. It was a bronze medal. He won a silver medal in Salt Lake City in 2002. 


Дедик Валерия: Yulia Chepalova started skiing when she was only four years old. At the age of eight she was her school champion. In 1997 Yulia won her first medal. She was twenty-one. Yulia is now an Olympic Champion. She is one of the best skiers. 


Федосов Никита: Andrei Kirilenko went to a sport school and started playing basketball when he was seven years old. He won his first medal when he was a player in St Petersburg city team, at the age of fifteen. Soon Andrei became one of the top-step players.

I would like you to work in groups and complete these columns with the sports picture cards following the example on the board. (T. puts the sports picture cards on the desk next to the board. Three students work at the board) Put the correct pictures under the corresponding verb.

On the interactive board you can see the rule.

We use play with ball sports.

Example: I play football with my friends in summer.

We use go with sports ending in –ing

Example: She goes swimming twice a week.

We use do with other sports and individual sports.

Example: They do karate every day.

* But there are some exceptions: do fencing
