- предоставить
учащимся возможность для реализации творческого потенциала и демонстрации
достижений в изучении английского языка;
- выявить
уровень сформированности коммуникативных умений и навыков.
Задачи:
1.
Расширить знания учащихся о Великобритании.
2.
Приобщить учащихся к культуре страны изучаемого языка.
3.
Поддержать интерес к изучению английского языка.
4.
Активизировать учебные умения и навыки учащихся.
Оборудование: карточки
с заданиями для каждой команды, проектор, музыкальное сопровождение, авторучки.
Предварительная
подготовка:
1.
Формируются списки команд-участников конкурса. Участие в конкурсе
добровольное.
2.
Консультация с участниками конкурса по подготовке "Визитной
карточки" и "Домашнего задания"
Содержание конкурса
1. Приветствие "Визитная
карточка" (представление названия команды, девиза, эмблемы и капитана не
более 2 минут)
2 . Разминка.
3. Конкурс капитанов.
4. Блиц - турнир "Знаете ли
вы?"
5.
Домашнее
задание
"Welcome to Great Britain!" (не более 5минут)
Критерии оценивания
Выступления команд оцениваются по
пятибалльной системе по следующим критериям:
- владение английским языком;
- эрудиция;
- находчивость;
- оригинальность подачи материала;
- внешний вид и стиль команды;
- исполнительское мастерство (артистизм,
выразительность);
Course of the competition
1. Good
morning everybody! Welcome to our competition "Welcome
to Great Britain"
Now you can
see our jury: the teachers of foreign languages …
Let’s start
our game. The most cheerful and friendly, smart and resourceful are waiting for
prizes and awards! We wish everyone good luck!The first task of the contest is
called "Business card". Teams perform according to the selected
numbers. The team number 1 is invited to the stage....., ............
2. While
the jury assesses the first performance, the team captains can take the task
for the next competition. This is a warm-Up. We invite one player
from each team to the stage. You should read the tongue twister as quickly as
possible with the correct pronunciation. You have 30 seconds to prepare.
So, we continue
our competition and now you need to perform the second task, which is called "warm-Up".

start blitz tournament. Your task
is to listen to the question and answer it.. You are given 2 auditions for each
question and 30 seconds to answer.

have to determine which of the read texts corresponds to their picture.

Competition of
captains ("Конкурс капитанов")
1.The Globe
Theatre was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company. The modern theatre
was opened in 1997 and represents a replica of the old theatre.
The Globe is
an open-air theatre. There are three stories in the building.
The stage is
right in the middle of the theatre. Next to the stage there is an area where
people can watch a performance whilst standing. Seats are located on three
levels around the yard.
2. Buckingham Palace
is the official residence of Queen Elizabeth. It is located near Green Park.
When the Queen is in the residence, the Royal Standard flies over Buckingham
Palace. There are 775 rooms where members of the Royal family and their
servants live. There are also rooms for guests. There are offices, on-site post
and even swimming pool in the palace. Throughout the year right in front of
Buckingham Palace the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard takes place,
attracting a lot of tourists.
3. Westminster is
a historical area of central London with several famous landmarks. Westminster
Abbey, a Gothic church, is located there. The church is a traditional place of
coronation and burial site for all British kings and queens.
Not far from
the church there is the Palace of Westminster which is the meeting place of the
House of Commons and the House of Lords.
4. St. Paul's
Cathedral is located at the highest point of the City of London, Ludgate Hill.
The Cathedral was seriously damaged during the Great Fire of London. It was
redesigned by Christopher Wren, a famous architect. There are three Galleries
and 17 bells in the Cathedral. The largest bell is called Great Paul. The
funerals of a lot of notable figures have occurred at the cathedral.
5. Stonehenge is a
well-known prehistoric monument which is located in Wiltshire, England. Huge
standing stones which are 4,1 meters long and 2,1 meters wide make a ring. The
real purpose of this structure is still a subject of much controversy. It is
believed that Stonehenge served as an ancient astronomical observatory.
Stonehenge is added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
6. Windsor Castle is
a residence of the British monarchy. Windsor Castle is the largest residential
castle in the world. A lot of official visits take place here. It is also open
for tourists. Windsor Castle is located on a hill and is surrounded with lush
greenery. The castle has been reconstructed a number of times but the location
of its main buildings remains unchanged.
7. Trafalgar Square is the
geographical center of London. There is the monument in the center of this
landmark. It is known as Nelson’s Column. This square is used for walking,
demonstrations and holidays. It is very popular among tourists and citizens.
8. Madam Tussaud’s is the
most amazing wax museum in the whole world! It is visited by 2,5 million people
every year. Every day you can see thousands of people standing in the queue
near the entering to this building. There are many different wax figures. You can
see famous actors, singers and politicians. They are very similar to real
people.
9. Tower of London is a
great building. It includes a palace, a fortress, a prison and a palace of
execution. It is a big historical museum. It is one of the oldest places in
London. There are many beautiful Crown Jewels in the tower. People working
there carefully look after them. Tourists like this great historical place!
10. The British museum was
created in 1753. It contains one of the richest in the world’s collections of
antiquities. There is also one of the largest library in this museum. There is
a reading room, but you can’t lend books. There are 11 departments in this
museum. They keep a lot of different collections.
11. Picadily Circus is known
as a center of the night life in the West End. It is popular between tourists
and citizens. Piccadilly Circus is a dynamic and delightful place with lively
atmosphere. It is also the shopping center. There are many different shops
where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, food.
12. The House of Parliament
is also known as Palace of Westminster. It stands on the riverside near
Westminster Abbey. It can be visited by tourists. They start at the Royal
Gallery and then they go to the House of Lords. The most famous part of the
House of Parliament is St. Stephen’s Hall. It is decorated by very expensive
and valuable frescos. It is one of the oldest landmarks in London.
