questions about the pictures they brought from home.
STEP 2. If they forgot to bring
any, they can use the pictures available on pages 65-66.
This activity could also be done

III. Main Part/ While-Activity.
Explanation of new theme
Activity 2. Look at the picture by Charles White 'Flowers and Birds' and
answer the questions.
Interaction pattern: group work
Time: 7 min
Objectives: to introduce
and practise the negative form of the Past Passive
STEP 1. Ask pupils to divide in to 3 groups.
STEP 2. This is a usual
True/False activity. If the sentence is false, PP should correct it as in the
example.
e.g. 1 'Flowers and Birds'was not painted by Thomas
Gainsborough. It was painted by Charles White.

picture

Objective: to enable PP
to talk about pictures.
STEP 1. Ask pupils do this
activity with pair of two or three.
STEP 2. PP talk about the
picture. They may want to write down their answers. They can use the answers
for the review they write in 5.
e.g. A: Can you describe his physical appearance? B: He's quite
old ...
1 his physical appearance (young/old, tall/short, fat/thin,
dark/blond)
2 the expression on his face (happy/sad, kind/unkind,
relaxed/worried)

Suggestion: If your class
is big, this activity and 5 could be done in bigger groups of 4-5.
Activity 5. Write a review of the picture for your school newspaper.

Time: 10 min
Objective: to write a
review of a picture.
STEP 1. Ask pupils to write
about the picture using the plan. They can use the adjectives from Lesson 2.
STEP 2. Ask them to pay
attention to details.
