Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1,5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1,5 minutes to read it.
The official name of the country we usually call «England» and occasionally «Great Britain» is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It consists of four main parts which are: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburg Cardiff and Belfast. The UK is situated in the north-west coast of Europe between the Atlantic Ocean on the north and north-west and the North Sea on the east. It is an island state.
The population of the UK is nearly 60 million people. The British Isles are the home of four nations – English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish. The population lives mostly in towns and cities and their suburbs.
The climate of Great Britain is mild. It is not too hot in summer or too cold in winter. If often rains in England. Rain falls in summer and in winter, in autumn and in spring. Snow falls only in the north and west of the country. Thanks to climate conditions, Britain in truth looks like one great well-ordered park with its old trees, green meadows and hedges.

Task 3. Imagine that while travelling during your holidays you took some photos. Choose one photo to present to your friend. You will have to start speaking in 1,5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes.
In your talk remember to speak about:
• when you took the picture
• who/what is in the photo
• what is happening
• why you took this photo
• why you decided to show it to your friend
You have to talk continuously, starting with:
I’ve chosen photo number ….
Task 4. Study the two photographs. In 1,5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
1) give a brief description of the photos (action, location)
2) say what the pictures have in common
3) say what differences they have
4) say what kind of weather presented in the pictures you would prefer
5) explain why
You will speak for not more than 2 minutes. You have to talk continuously.
