quite right! The theme of our lesson is called “SPORT”
Today we’ll speak
about different kinds of sports. And of course we will play the games and have
fun.

And now, who wants to tell us about a favourite
kind of sports?

1: I like swimming. I started to learn when
I was about seven years old. I think that swimming is something like music or
language. That is why very good to start as early as possible if you want to be
good at it. I visit swimming pool every week. Swimming helps me to stay in good
shape.

2: In my opinion the best sport is tennis.
In fact I play table tennis. My father has taught me this game. And now I play
it every day. I’m so glad that tennis is so popular in the lyceum. During the
breaks or after the lessons there are many students waiting their turn to play
tennis. It is good for my health and body. Tennis also helps me to relax after
my working day.

3: I
like running. Every morning I run about a kilometer. And after it I am not
tired at all. Jogging keeps me fit the rest of the day. All I need for these
exercises are shorts, a vest and trackers. I run all year round in any weather.

4: As for me I do not like sports. It takes
a lot of energy and time. As a result of going in for sports, people can have
broken legs and arms. It makes you unhappy when you lose. So I prefer to watch
sport competitions than participate in them.

THE
WORLD CUP
Al
is playing with the computer. He chooses “Football” and presses the blue
button. Al is in the future! He is a footballer and he is playing in the World
Cup. The match is Brazil – England and Al is in the English team.
The
match started at three o’clock. At half past three the Brazilian team scored a
goal. At a quarter to four it was half time. The score was one-nil to Brazil.
It’s
now ten to five. A man is talking on the television. Listen! Can the English
team score a goal? The Brazilians have got the ball. Peres passing it to
Mendes…
But Al,
the English player, is next to Mendes….But Al is running in front of Mendes…
and he’s got the ball! Al is running fast. Number 8, the Brazilian, is behind
Al – can he stop him? No! Al is too fast…
Al
is in front of the goal. The Brazilian goalkeeper is waiting… Al is going to
shoot… He shoots… And it’s a goal! It’s a goal! And that’s the whistle! So it’s
one all. That was a wonderful game and a wonderful goal!
