                                        Midterm Test, the 9th form

I.                    Use the proper tense-form

1.      If he (apologize) for being late, Miss Green (forgive) him.

2.      I hope they (not/be) very tired when they (arrive).

3.      Julia (think) of moving to London next summer.

4.      I’ve read all your books, Mr Clark. And what you (write) now?

II.                  Use a, the or zero article to complete the sentences

1.      … Abraham Lincoln served his state for eight years and people began to call him … Honest Abe.

4.      “Pygmalion”, … play we watched yesterday, was really enjoyable.

III.                Use the proper form of the underlined nouns

1.      Such phenomena/phenomenon are rather rare in life.

2.      Our last set of analyses/analysis shows quite different results.

3.      These datum/data are very interesting.

4.      New television antenna/antennae are being put on the roof of our block of flats.

5.      There are three appendices/appendix at the end of the book.

                                                   

IV.               Complete the sentences using the indefinite or zero article

1.      Things made of … glass are easily broken. Champagne is … sparkling wine that one usually drinks from … special champagne glass.

2.      This statue by Rodin is … real work of art. Jim has been doing … hard physical work since he was in his teens.

3.      Peter has caught … cold and is staying in bed. I hate … cold, I wish I lived in … hot country.

4.      Cheddar is … firm yellow cheese. … Cheese should be kept in the fridge.

V.                 Complete the sentences using the right variant of the word

1.      Trafalgar Square is historic/historical spot.

3.      Meeting at supper they always talked about policy/politics.

4.      Our use of the central heating is fairly economical/economic.

5.      One of Britain’s most famous/notorious criminals escaped from prison.

VI.               Use the right preposition

1.      She picked (on, up, out) her bag and left the room.

2.      Stop picking (at, on, up) me!

3.      The wood was cut off/out/down and taken away.

4.      Why did you cut down/off/out your hair?

5.      Please speak up/out/for, I can’t hear you!

6.      The number of people who came to the show spoke to/for/out itself: it was a success.

7.      Never put up/off/on till tomorrow what you can do today.

8.      Mag put off/on/out her glasses in front of the mirror, she was going to read a paper.

9.      He picked up/out/off a few German phrases while staying in Berlin.

Тесты по английскому языку для 9 класса, вводный тест (повторение материала 8 класса) и промежуточный (за 1 полугодие).

Материал тестов основан на программе учебников 8 и 9 класса О.В. Михеевой и И.В. Афанасьевой дляшкол с углублённым изучением английского языка, лицеев и гимназий.

"Вводный тест содержит материал 8 класса по темам: придаточные условные предложения, герундий и инфинитив, модальные глаголы, а также лексические темы - предлоги, фразовые глаголы и синонимичные слова.

"Промежуточный тест включает темы учебника 9 класса: времена английского глагола, артикль, множественное число существительных греческого и латинского происхождения, исчисляемые и неисчисляемые имена существительные, фразовые глаголы.

Тесты охватывают самые важные темы курса, при этом рассчитаны на базовые знания ученика. Опробирован в параллели 9 классов гимназии «БЭСТ».
