Lines – in England when a teacher gives you “lines”, you will write some sentence again and again, fifty or one hundred times. For example, you can write “I must do my homework” or “I must not be late”.
Detention – If you are in detention, you stay after school to do extra work – “lines” or clean the classroom.
Report – If you are “on report”, you have a card which you give to the teacher at the end of every lesson. Each teacher reports if you behaved well or badly.
Suspension – you cannot come to school for a few days or weeks. Your parents must see the Head Teacher. This is serious.
Exclusion – this is very serious. You have to go to another school where the teachers all know about your bad behaviour.

Презентация »Schools in the UK» была подготовлена для урока английского языка в 7 классе к учебнику »Enjoy English» по теме «Школа». Однако она с успехом использовалась и на других ступенях обучения, к примеру в 9 классе в рамках той же темы к учебнику »New Millennium English». В сводной таблице дается понятие о системе среднего образования в Великобритании, (возраст при поступлении в школу, экзамены, названия ступеней школы).
Далее представлены типы школ, учебные предметы, система наказаний, определение разницы в значении глаголов to learn, to study и краткое сравнение частной и государственной школ. Прекрасным дополнением к данной презентации служит видео British schools из программы »The window on Britain», которую легко можно найти в интернете.
