T: Good! For the beginning we are going to speak
about Kazakhstan.
P1- The Republic
of Kazakhstan is situated in Central Asia. The area of Kazakhstan is about 3
mln square km. It’s population is about 17 mln people. The population lives
mostly in cities and towns.
P2- Kazakhstan Is
an extremely beautiful country. There are the majestic Zailiysky Alatau
Mountains, the beautiful lakes and rivers: the Irttysh, the Syrdaria, and
Amurdaria, Aral sea and Kaspian sea and the endless steppes.
P3- There are a
lot of puicturesque places like Kolzhai, Bayanaul and others. Borovoe – is one
of the natural miracles of the planet.
P4- Kazakh is the
official language of the country. Russian and other languages are spoken here
too. Kazakhstan is multinational country.
P5- Kazakhstan
borders China, Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzia.
There is a long border cost line on the Caspian sea. There are a few rivers and
lakes in Kazakhstan.
P6- The flora and
fauna of the country are different. They depend on the climate of the country.
They are richer in the south and poorer in the north. The climate of Kazakhstan
is strongly continental. It is cold in winter and hot in summer.
P7- There are many
big cities and small towns in the Republic. The largest cities of
Kazakhstan are Almaty, Karaganda, Shimkent, Astana…..

T: Now we are
going to speak about the capital of our Motherland – Astana.
It’s difficult to describe Astana in a few
words, and it’s difficult to see all the sightseeing in Astana. It is the
center of political, cultural and financial life of our country. The beautiful
buildings, theatres, museums, cinemas, hotels, monuments are situated there.
Residence of the President, the Parliament and the government are located here.
T: We’ll work in
groups. There are 3 groups in the class. 1 group will tell us about Astana,
second about places of interest of Astana and the third one about national
holidays.
I group:
Astana was founded in 1830 in the steppes of
Saryarka. Former time it was called Akmolinsk, then Tselinograd. In 1997 Akmola
became a new capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Later it got its present
name Astana. Astana is a modern, growing city, a political, economic, and a
cultural center of the state. Astana is a heart of our Motherland.
II group:
There are many places of interest in Astana:
the Central square, it is the heart of Astana. The symbol of Astana is
Baiterek. It’s a unique construction. Baiterek is 97 meters high, that
symbolizes year 1997. Ak-Orda is the official residence of the President of the
Republic of Kazakhstan. Here President works, Khan Shatyr is a giant
transparent tent in Astana is a large shopping center in the capital. There are
several museums, theatres, libraries and parks in Astana.
III group:
Kazakhstan has national traditions, customs
and holidays. We celebrate:
January 1. - New Year Day
March 8. - Women’s Day
March 22.- Nauryz Day
May 9 - Victory Day
July 6 – Day of the capital.
August 30 – Constitution Day.
December 1 – Day of the first President.
December 16 – Independence Day.
T: As a sovereign
state Kazakhstan has its own national flag, State Emblem and symbol. Work in
group, study information and tell this information to each other.
I group: State Flag.
1. The colours of the flag of Kazakhstan are
blue and white. The Sun is the symbol of peace.
2. You can see the eagle – the symbol of
freedom of the people of Kazakhstan.
3. There is a traditional Kazakh ornament on
the left.
4. Eagle is an independent bird of Kazakhstan.
II group: State Emblem.

There is Shanyrak in the center of the State
Emblem. Its 2 beams (перекладины) symbolize 4 parts of the world
The mythological horses Tulpars complete the
ensemble.
There is a star on the top and the word
Kazakhstan bellow.
The State emblem is gold and blue color.
III group: State
symbol.

Snow leopard is the State symbol of Kazakhstan. It
was the symbol of Asiada in 2011.
Snow leopards live high in mountains of
Kazakhstan. They are in danger.
There are about 180-200 snow leopards in
Kazakhstan.
Snow leopard is the wild, strong and proud
animal. It is the live symbol of Kazakhstan.

President N.A. Nazarbaev in his message to the people of Kazakhstan says that
young people must know three languages: Kazakh as the official language, Russian as a
language of national communication and English as an international language.
