Настоящие методические указания предназначены для студентов I курса всех специальностей КБЛК очной и заочной формы обучения для организации аудиторной и самостоятельной работы студентов. Предисловие
Каждый, изучавший английский язык, наверняка помнит, как нелегко даются звуки чужой речи. Это неудивительно: нужно распознавать на слух и артикулировать новые звуки, большинство из которых существенно отличаются от звуков родного языка, усвоить иную интонацию, научиться правильно ставить ударение в слове, фразе и т.п.
Все эти трудности не уменьшаются, а, пожалуй, умножаются при переходе к овладению чтением. Большинство из 26 букв английского алфавита “вынуждены” читаться по-разному в разных сочетаниях и позициях, чтобы передать 44 звука.
Вводный курс является коррективным, поскольку студенты имеют различную подготовку по языку. В вводный курс включены разнообразные задания для организации самостоятельной работы и контроля знаний.
Задачей вводно-коррективного фонетического курса является выработка навыков правильного произношения, устранение типичных ошибок. Для понимания и преодоления студентами характерных трудностей английские звуки рассматриваются в сравнении и сопоставлении с русскими.
Настоящие методические указания предназначены для студентов I курса всех специальностей колледжа очной и заочной формы обучения для организации аудиторной и самостоятельной работы. Целью этих методических указаний является повторение знаков фонетической транскрипции и корректировка фонетических навыков, правил чтения, особенностей английской интонации.
Методические указания включают в себя основные фонетические темы, содержащие теоретический материал, так и практические упражнения по его закреплению, состоящий из упражнений, скороговорок, стихов, способствующих развитию и совершенствованию произносительных навыков. Кроме фонетических упражнений здесь вводятся легкие разговорные модели этикета.
Фонетический материал указаний может быть использован на всех курсах обучения, а также может быть рекомендован для всех лиц, желающих повысить уровень владения английским языком.
Органы речи и их работа
У всех людей на земле артикуляторный аппарат устроен одинаково, но каждый язык выбирает те или иные положения органов речи для производства звуков.
В полости рта расположены органы речи: язык, нёбо (твёрдое и мягкое), отделяющее полость рта от носовой полости, зубы и губы. За верхними зубами расположены бугорки, которые называются альвеолами. Наибольшее количество звуков речи образуются в полости рта благодаря большой подвижности языка и губ и возможности комбинировать их движения. Непосредственно за альвеолами расположено твёрдое нёбо, а напротив корня языка - мягкоё нёбо.
К активным органам речи относятся также голосовые связки. При произнесении глухих согласных голосовые связки не напряжены и раздвинуты. Когда голосовые связки напряжены и сближены, а поток воздуха заставляет их вибрировать, возникает голос, который мы слышим при произнесении звонких согласных и гласных.
Английский алфавит
В английском языке 44 звука, а алфавит имеет 26 букв. Поэтому одна и та же буква в разных положениях может читаться как несколько разных звуков. Для точного обозначения звукового состава слова пользуются транскрипцией, т.е. такой системой графических обозначений, в которой каждому звуку соответствует один определенный знак.
Английский алфавит состоит из 26 букв. Из них 6 служат для обозначения гласных звуков: a, e, i, o, u, y. Остальные 20 букв служат для обозначения согласных звуков.

О транслитерации русских имен и фамилий
При заполнении регистрационных форм, анкет, оформлении разного рода документов (например, загранпаспорта или визы) приходится писать свою фамилию, имя, адрес латинскими (английскими) буквами. Данный сервис позволяет автоматизировать перевод (транслитерацию) русских букв в английские.
Как правильно написать фамилию и имя по-английски? Как правильно назвать русский сайт английскими буквами? Существуют различные системы или правила транслитерации имен и фамилий (транслитерация русских слов). В их основе лежит процесс простого замещения букв русского алфавита на соответствующие буквы или сочетания букв английского алфавита (см. таблицу ниже). Различие между системами транслитерации имен и фамилий наблюдается при переводе некоторых букв, например Е, Ё, Ъ, Ь и дифтонгов (сочетаний гласной буквы и Й).

Правила чтения
Английские слова имеют несколько типов слогов. Однако, для понимания всей системы, необходимо запомнить и различать следующие два типа: закрытый и открытый.
Закрытый слог оканчивается на согласную: pen, cat, bus - гласная буква в слоге даёт иной звук.
Открытый слог оканчивается на гласную: game, like, stone - гласная буква в слове читается так же, как и в алфавите.
Ударение в транскрипции и словах обозначается вертикальной чёрточкой перед ударным слогом.

В любом языке интонация служит для внешнего оформления предложения. При помощи интонации наш слушатель понимает, является ли предложение повествованием, вопросом, просьбой или восклицанием. Например, предложение "Сегодня тепло" может быть утверждением, вопросом и восклицанием в зависимости от интонации, с которой произносится предложение. Интонация также выражает наши эмоции: удивление, раздражение, радость, недовольство и т.д.
Каждый язык имеет свою особую, характерную для него интонацию, заметно отличающуюся от интонации других языков. В английском языке интонация играет особенно важную роль вследствие сильно выраженного аналитического характера языка. (В аналитических языках отношения между словами выражаются не при помощи окончаний, как в русском языке, а при помощи служебных слов: предлогов, артиклей, вспомогательных глаголов, а также при помощи интонации.)
Составными
элементами интонации являются:
- мелодика речи, которая осуществляется повышением или понижением голоса
во фразе (сравните произнесение повествовательного и вопросительного
предложения);
- ритм речи, т.е. чередование ударных и безударных слогов;
- темп, т.е. быстрота или медленность речи и паузы между речевыми
отрезками (сравните речь замедленную и речь скороговоркой);
- тембр, т.е. звуковая окраска, придающая речи те или иные
эмоционально-экспрессивные оттенки (тембр "весёлый",
"игривый", "мрачный" и т.д.);
- фразовое и логическое ударение, служащие средством выделения отдельных
слов в предложении.
Как уже было сказано выше, длинные предложения делятся на отдельные смысловые группы, которые зависят от общего смысла предложения, его грамматической структуры и стиля речи.
Каждая смысловая группа имеет определённую интонацию, которая указывает на завершённость или незавершённость мысли в ней. Обычно только последняя смысловая группа указывает на то, что мысль в данном предложении закончена; в предыдущих смысловых группах употребляется интонация, которая говорит о незавершённости мысли. Например, в предложении: "В июне, июле и августе дети не ходят в школу" в трёх первых смысловых группах: "В июне, июле и августе" мысль предложения не закончена, и, соответственно, употребляется интонация, которая указывает на это.
Количество смысловых отрезков в предложении зависит от темпа речи, т.е. произносим ли мы предложения быстро или медленно. Например, при диктовке предложений темп речи будет значительно более медленным, чем в разговорной речи. Таким образом, и смысловых отрезков при диктовке будет больше, и они будут короче.
Английская интонация значительно отличается от русской, как мелодией, так и фразовым ударением. Понижение или повышение голоса на последнем ударном слове в предложении являются двумя основными тонами английской интонации (впрочем, и русской тоже) - нисходящим тоном и восходящим тоном.
Выбор интонационных средств речевого общения определяется целым рядом внешних факторов. Характер и ситуация общения влияют на интонационное оформление высказывания – дружеская беседа хорошо знакомых людей отличается от официального, делового разговора.
Фраза будет произноситься по-разному в зависимости от того, хочет ли говорящий сообщить, спросить или получить информацию. Интонационное оформление высказывания зависит также от формы общения – монолога, диалога или полилога.
Эмоциональное состояние говорящего также отражается в проявлениях интонации – нейтральная речь интонационно отличается от эмоционально окрашенной.
Отрезок звучащей фразы как смысловое, грамматическое и интонационно-ритмическое единство. Синтагма может быть равна части предложения или всему предложению. Синтагмы отделяются друг от друга паузами.
Каждая синтагме свойственна своя мелодика – последовательное изменение высоты голосового тона на ударных и безударных слогах. Основной элемент мелодической структуры фразы – завершение (конечный тон, завершающий синтагму). Завершение (изменение высоты голоса на последнем ударном слоге) определяет коммуникативную направленность фразы, указывает на её тип - утверждение, вопрос, приказание, просьба - и выделяет её коммуникативный центр.
Кроме завершения, в синтагме выделяется предконечная часть – шкала синтагмы. Шкала начинается с первого ударного слога и заканчивается на последнем слоге непосредственно перед конечным тоном. Так в синтагме можно выделить следующие структурные элементы:
· предшкала (предударное начало синтагмы)

· зашкала (безударные слоги после завершения в конце синтагмы).
Для графического изображения интонации традиционно используются следующие знаки:

2 параллельные линии для обозначения голосового диапазона - указания его верхней и нижней границы, между которыми изображаются ударные слоги синтагмы на соответствующем уровне. Обычно спокойные, неэмоциональные высказывания звучат в среднем голосовом регистре. Первый ударный слог в таком случае размещается на уровне 2/3 от нижней границы голосового диапазона.

Паузы между синтагмами обозначаются так: § - полупауза, | - пауза, || - долгая пауза (обычно в конце предложения).
Обычное мелодическое завершение в английской интонации. Падение тона голоса в ударном слоге начинается на среднем или более низком уровне, достигая предельно низкого уровня. Падение происходит резче и круче, чем в русском. Русское падение сильно отличается от английского, произносясь в более узком диапазоне и заканчиваясь на более высоком уровне.
Низконисходящее завершение обозначается в тексте наклонной чёрточкой внизу перед ударным слогом: \Lizzy. Низкое падение звучит категорично, сдержанно, уверенно, придавая высказыванию законченность.
В отличие от русского, английское низковосходящее завершение начинается на самом низком тональном уровне и плавно поднимается, не достигая среднего уровня. В русском подъём начинается на более высоком уровне, заканчиваясь небольшим спадом.
Графически низковосходящее завершение обозначается наклонной чёрточкой внизу перед ударным слогом: ∕Ellie.
Низковосходящий тон звучит некатегорично, с оттенком неуверенности, недосказанности, колебания. Предложения с низким подъёмом звучат вопросительно, выражая готовность продолжить беседу, вежливое одобрение.
Нисходящая ступенчатая шкала – самая распространённая в монологической и неэмоциональной диалогической речи. Первый ударный слог произносится на более высоком, чем в русском языке, уровне, обычным ровным тоном. Каждый следующий за ним ударный слог произносится на более низком уровне, образуя ступенчатый ряд слогов. Безударные слоги произносятся, как правило, на одном уровне с предшествующим ударным слогом.
При произнесении высоконисходящего завершения падение голосового тона начинается выше среднего уровня, заканчиваясь на самом низком уровне при широком диапазоне падения.
Графически высокое падение обозначается наклонной чёрточкой вверху перед ударным слогом:

Фразы с высоким падением звучат оживлённо, дружелюбно, доброжелательно. Это завершение часто употребляется в диалогической речи.
Постепенно нисходящая ступенчатая шкала может произноситься так, что понижение голосового тона может быть нарушено на каком-то ударном слоге. Этот слог обычно произносится выше предшествующих. Это постепенно нисходящая нарушенная шкала, где ударный слог, звучащий на более высоком уровне, чем предшествующие, произносится с особым подъёмом. Нарушение понижения голосового тона может происходить на любом ударном слоге шкалы, кроме первого ударного.
В тексте нарушено-постепенная шкала обозначается знаком ↑ перед произносимым выше слогом: She |went to the |post office ↑every \day.
Нарушено-постепенная шкала выделяет слово синтагмы – обычно в монологической и неэмоциональной диалогической речи, в описаниях…
В русском такого нет, а для английской интонации оно типично. Нисходяще-восходящее завершение относится к сложным тонам – голосовой тон вначале опускается до самого низкого уровня, а затем поднимается кверху. Падение-подъём тона может осуществляться в пределах одного слога или распространяться на несколько.
Падение-подъём одновременно выделяет слово в центре коммуникативного высказывания, указывая на незавершённость синтагмы/фразы. Он обозначает различного рода подтекст – вежливую поправку, извинение, сожаление, сомнение, контраст.
Графически нисходяще-восходящее завершение обозначается знаком √ перед ударным слогом: √Generally…
