I. Greeting; work with an English proverb: «Necessity is the mother of invention».
1. Translate the proverb and find the Russian equivalent.
Words:

2. Answer the questions:

II. Work in groups, fill in the table. You see it on the screen.
1. Find out what these inventions are used for.
2. Answer the questions:

Read about the inventions, translate and find out:
- What is an invention?
- What are the most ancient inventions in the world? (Add some more information).
- What are Thomas Edison, Alexander Bell, Alexander Fleming, Steve Jobs famous for? (Add some more information about other great inventors).
- What is the award for the greatest inventions in the world? (Can you remember some names?)
IV. «Interview» (Role play). Work in group: “inventors” and “reporters”. “Inventors” will answer the questions of “reporters” with the help of the cards.
