Welcome to our quiz show. Our quiz is devoted to the theme
“Faces of London”.is
As you know London is one of the most famous cities in the world.
It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit. They are
Piccadilly Circus, the British Museum Hyde park. But “Faces of London” are not
only sights they are famous people too.
Now let us start our quiz. Today we have two teams: the team
of students from 5 a and the team of students from 5 b. Please greet them. Let
me introduce you our jury. They are the teachers of English.
So children, you have to answer many questions. For every
right answer you’ll get one point.
1The first task is to name the sights ( Buckingham palace,
Trafalgar square, the London Eye, Tower Bridge). Thank you. You are right.
2Your next task is to read the description of London
sights. Your rivals will guess the sight.
1.This place is very old. It has a long history. It was a
fortress, a palace, a prison. Special guards look after the black ravens that
live there.
2.Tourists in London always visit this place. They want to
see clock in its tower and hear the bell.
3.It is a symbol of England. The legend says that St’ Peter
founded it. Today it is a working church and a great monument to the history of
England.
4.It is a place where the British Government sits. It is
situated not far from Westminster Abbey. The country’s leaders speak there.
Oh, you’ve guessed all the sights. Thank you.
3You know that English people have a sweet tooth.
They like to eat cakes, biscuits, ice-cream, rolls, jam.
Let’s do a crossword puzzle and find out what English people

4Now it’s time to lay the table for tea. English
people have a tradition to drink tea at five o’ clock in the afternoon. Your
task is to lay the table and name the objects ( a cup, a saucer , a tea spoon,
a glass , a sugar – bowl, a tea-pot, etc.)
5While the girls are busy , listen to some
interesting information about Big Ben.
Is there a chance that you are might be coming to London
this summer? If you are , one of the things all tourists come to see and hear
is Big Ben. Big Ben is 155 years old. It is the most accurate clock of its
size in the world. There are334 steps up to the belfry ( the place where the
bells are ) and 59 more steps to the lanten at the top. Each of the numbers
on the clock face is 60.9 cms long. The hour hand is 274.3 cms long. The
minute hand is 426 cms long. The biggest bell’s name is Big Ben. It
weights13.7tons.
Now I see that the girls are ready. Please, will you name

6Londoners are fond of tasty things. They even have sandwich
shops where you can buy all sorts of sandwiches: meat and cheese sandwiches,
salad and fruit sandwiches. I ask one girl form each team to come here. Your
task is to make English sandwiches.
7And we are going to play with the spectators.
