The Statue of Liberty.

Most people don`t know that the full name of Statue of Liberty is “ The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World”. It is the symbol of liberty, especially for many eimmigrants.

When many immigrants came to the United States in the late 1800s lady Liberty in New York Harbour was a sign to them that they had made it to America.

The Empire State Building.

The Empire State Building may be the most famous building in New York City. It is called the Empire State Building,because  New York State is called the Empire State. It is 1,454 feet tall.

Many people think it is the tallest building in the world. It was true in 1931. In 1970 when the World Trade Center was built that become the tallest building. Now the Empire State Building is the fourth tallest building in the US.

America: Land of Opportunity.

America is known as a land of opportunity where one can achieve anything they  put their mind to, no matter  who they are. Thousands of people immigrate to the United States every year from different parts of the world to have access to these kinds of opportunities.

This is what is known as the American dream.

Why New York is called an American big apple?

New York is a metropolitan that has got several nicknames:

These include: the city that never sleeps, Gotham, the Great American melting pot, and of course the Big Apple.Some people say that the name came from some rich families that were forced to sell apples

in the streets of the city after their wealth collapsed during the great Depression.

The phrase Big Apple when used to refer to New York reflects the wonderful nature of the city.

It symbolizes New York  as a fast moving and exciting city with lots of opportunities for everyone  who can dream to make them real some day.
