Theme: Music in your life

Materials for the lesson: cards with exercises, stereo, music compositions, pictures of music instruments, active board.

Objectives The students will be able to

  • to revise student’s vocabulary on the topic «Music»;

  • to develop learners’ reading skills through the methods of interactive reading;

  • to improve student’s skills for listening and comprehension;

  • to develop learners’ creative abilities.

Procedure of the lesson

Introduction

  1. The speech with the students. Answer the questions:

What date is it today? What season is it now?

What is the weather like?

What is the weekday today? How are you?

Control the home task : page 63 exercise 10

Complete the sentences with the correct forms of the verbs.

Revise the grammar from the last lesson.

Degrees of adjectives. Name the irregular adjectives.

Warm-up

Make sentences. Complete with degrees of adjectives. Use cards that the teacher gives. And look at the active board.

  1. It’s (bad) mistake he has ever made.

  2. This man is (tall) than that one.

  3. Asia is (large) than Australia.

  4. This garden is the (beautiful) in our town.

  5. She speaks Italian (good) than English.

  6. The Thames is (short) than the Volga.

  7. Chinese is (difficult) than English.

I Presentation of the new material

We begin our lesson with words of American composer: Leonard Bernstein

«Music can name the unnamable and communicate the unknowable».

  1. We know many kind of music instruments. Show slides with music instruments. Listen, read and write the name of them.

  3. Violin- скрипка 10) piano- фортепьяно

  4. Clarinet -кларнет 11) dombyra - домбра

Listen to music and say: Do you know what kind of music is it?

We also revise the name of kind of music: classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, opera, kantri, shanson.

Write: brush up the vocabulary and make up a crossword or a chainword on the theme «Music in our life».
