Цель урока:

Формирование лексических и грамматических навыков говорения по теме; научить употреблять лексику на уровне предложения, неподготовленного микровысказывания, аргументированного моновысказывания; научить выражать свои предпочтения, используя структуры quite like, would quite like, would love, would prefer, wouldn't like, can’t stand, like, love, hate.

Задачи урока:

• практическая: развитие умения аудирования с целью извлечения конкретной информации; развитие умения читать с целью извлечения нужной или интересующей информации; формировать речевую деятельность учащихся на базе новой лексики; развитие умения выражать“preferences”;
• развивающая: развивать память и мыслительную деятельность учащихся, развитие способности к анализу, обобщению, дедуктивному способу выведения грамматического правила, развитие способности к языковой догадке в целях расширения их потенциального лексического запаса, развивать умения аргументировать свою точку зрения, делать вывод, подводить итоги;
• образовательная: расширение кругозора учащихся, развитие общих и образовательных умений, позволяющих совершенствовать учебную деятельность по овладению английским языком;
• воспитательная: формировать нравственный, позитивный режим общения при обмене мнениями, повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка.

Ход урока:

1. Организационный момент.

Good morning. Glad to see you and our honored guests here and we’d like to start our lesson with your prediction about the subject of our discussion today. I want you to watch the pictures and say what we’re going to discuss at the lesson.

2. Введение в тему урока, целеполагание. Речевая разминка.

T: So, what is the subject of our discussion?

Ps: X-treme sports.

T:  Right you are. I’ve got some questions for you and they are not that simple. Please, have a look at the smart board.

According to  Danny Harf, an extreme rider, extreme sport is something about getting outside your comfort zone. It doesn’t actually matter whether you succeed or fail them. The only way to go forward is to be willing to take that next step.

That ‘s his definition, his opinion as a professional risk-taker.

Now we would like you to answer the following questions:

-          What do all extreme sports have in common?

-          Why do we call them extreme?

-          What makes people risk their lives to do them?

Ps: Еxtreme describes activities with a high level of danger.

We may even call them death-dealing activities.

How can we characterize them?

Read the reasons why people do extreme sports. Choose the reasons you agree with. Express your point of view.

Negative: aggressive, dangerous, death-dealing, risky, troublesome.

T: Well, today we’re going to take a closer look at extreme sports. What exactly are they??

Our pupils have prepared a short presentation which is going to get acquainted you with the most popular and unusual extreme sports.

-How long have you been sand-boarding, Brian?

-I have been sand-boarding for the past seven years.

- Why do you like it?

-I ‘m a real speed freak and I find nothing exciting than to take out my board and whizz down the sand dunes. I can do it anywhere there is sand!

-What is the general idea of sand-boarding?

-The general idea of sand-boarding is the same as snowboarding. People simply strap a board to their feet and slide down a hill.

-Did you enter the International Sand-boarding Championships in Germany last year?

- Yes, I did. There were around 50.000 entrants and I came 100^th, so I was pretty proud.

- Congratulations!

Speaker 1 
Extreme sports have become very popular in the last few years and you often hear people talking about their experiences. They say it is the best thing in the world, a real adrenaline rush. But I'm afraid I can’t judge as I have never tried them myself. I’ve only read about it. I'd probably enjoy it if I decided to take it up! 

Speaker 2 
I can’t say I’m sporty at all. I think the last time I did any sport was about a month ago! And I only played golf with a friend of mine. I like team sports and sports that you can enjoy without having to do too much. I don’t fancy doing extreme sports at all - it wouldn’t be my kind of thing! 

Speaker 3 
Last weekend I went windsurfing with my best friend, Steven. I’m getting quite good at it now. I first took up the sport two years ago and have even taken part in competitions. But, for me it’s all about being adventurous and you need to try your hand at something new in order to push yourself to the limits. Actually, it’s high time I found something different. 

Speaker 4 
Have you heard about speed flying? It’s the most exciting new winter sport where you can glide by ski and through the air. It was first born in France but is now becoming popular in the rest of Europe. Once you learn how to paraglide and have all the necessary equipment, you can start lessons. It feels great flying at 70 km per hour! Try it for yourself! 

Speaker 5 
If you ask me, young people today are doing far too many extreme sports like bungee jumping and rock climbing. They are far too risky. What surprises me is that they don't care if they get hurt - they just go back and do it again and again. I remember the day when young people were happy to ride a normal bicycle or just go for a walk! It’s so different now! 

Speaker 6 
Maybe I should take up a new sport that’s a little bit different, a little bit more adventurous, but I’m not convinced that I need to go extreme. I get a lot of enjoyment out of ‘safer’ sports like basketball and tennis. They might not be so exciting, but they really keep you fit. That’s the most important thing for me.
