Урок английского языка в 6 классе.

Тема урока: «Коренное население Соединённых Штатов Америки»

 

 

Цели урока:

образовательные: совершенствовать навыки речевой деятельности учащихся; активизировать употребление ранее изученной лексики по теме в речи учащихся; отработать интонационные навыки;

развивающие: развивать навыки просмотрового чтения и извлечения необходимой информации из текста; развивать умение учащихся осуществлять монологические высказывания; развивать речевую реакцию; развивать аудитивные навыки

воспитательные: воспитывать у учащихся интерес к изучению иностранного языка и расширять кругозор учащихся; воспитывать толерантное уважительное и доброжелательное отношение к культуре другого народа.

 

Формируемые УУД:

·        личностные: учебно-познавательная мотивация, мотивационная основа учебной деятельности, учебно-познавательный интерес, адекватное понимание причин успеха / неуспеха в учебной деятельности.

·        регулятивные: волевая саморегуляция, контроль, коррекция, осуществление самоконтроля по результату и по способу действия.

·        познавательные: анализ, синтез, сравнение, обобщение, классификация, аналогия, структурирование знаний, построение логической цепи рассуждений, постановка и формулирование проблемы, самостоятельное создание алгоритмов деятельности, самостоятельный учет установленных ориентиров действия в новом учебном материале, построение речевых высказываний, рефлексия способов и условий действия, контроль и оценка процесса и результатов деятельности.

·        коммуникативные: планирование учебного сотрудничества, достаточно полное и точное выражение своих мыслей в соответствии с задачами и условиями коммуникации, формулирование и аргументация своего мнения и позиции в коммуникации, учет разных мнений, координирование в сотрудничестве разных позиций.

Принцип доступности, наглядности и взаимосвязи теории с практикой.

Тип урока: комбинированный.

Используемые технические средства: компьютер учителя, мультимедийный проектор, экран.

Информационный материал: презентация «Native Americans», карточки с тренировочными и проверочными заданиями.

Ход урока.

I. Оргмомент

T.: Good morning, children! I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please! How are you today, …? What about you, …? Are you hungry, …? Are you sleepy, …? Are you ready to work, children? Then let's start!

 

II. Определение темы урока учащимися по проблемному заданию, ознакомление учащихся с целями и задачами урока.

T.: You don’t know me and I don’t know you, but let’s try and find something in common between you and me. I will ask you some questions and if you like you’ll show a “like” sign http://www.clipartbest.com/cliparts/KTj/pq6/KTjpq6LLc.jpg and say loudly “Like”. If you don’t like the activity or thing I name, you’ll show a “dislike” sign and say loudly “Dislike”. Now,

Do you like to read books?

Do you like to go for a walk with your friends?

Do you like sport?

Do you like to sleep?

Do you like MacDonald’s?

Do you like playing computer games?

Thank you! And now look, we have much in common! And think, what else do we have in common?  Any ideas? What language do we speak now? – English. Is it your native language? – No. And what is your native language? – Russian. Right you are. So, we are Native Russians. And now I want you to guess what we are going to speak about today. To be more exact, who we are going to speak about. I will help you. Do you know what is “quest”? It’s a game, where you should find hints (prompts) to give the right answer. So, you should find 3 hints. The first hint is behind the piece of furniture that you sit on. What is it? – A chair. Find a hint. Great, come up to the blackboard. The second is under the piece of furniture that you write on. What is it? – A desk. Right, find it. Good, come up to the blackboard. Now look at these pictures and say who we are going to speak about today. Absolutely right, we are going to speak about native Americans.

 

III. Активизация ранее изученной лексики по теме «Коренные жители Америки»

T.: Your home task foo day was to read and translate text about Native Americans. Before we start working with it I want you to look at the screen and do the task. Here you can see a table with two columns. In the 1st one you can see words and in the 2nd descriptions (explanations). And you task is to match words with their definitions.

substance living in trees, mountains, fire or water

 

 

IV. Обобщение и систематизация знаний.

T.: Good job, thank you. And now look at the screen. Right now we are going to work with the text from ex.17 p.122 of your textbooks. Open your books, please.

Now read the question, please, and find the right answer in your texts.

In what way were they different? What did they do?

Now look at the screen attentively. Here you can see the word that is closely connected with Indians. But all letters in the word are mixed up. Try to make up the word and tell what it means. This picture can help you. So, it is wigwam, very good.

One more mixed word connected to the Native Americans. Indians believed that they were around them – in trees, mountains, fire or water. Make up the words from the letters. Spirits, excellent. And what did Indians do to make spirits kind? – They had ceremonies with dancing and music. Right you are.

Native Americans didn’t want to fight with anybody, they hoped to live happily with their neighbours on their land where they could hunt and fish. So, what were Indians like? – Peaceful. Great, thank you.

 

 

So, let’s continue. All these happened before Europeans arrived to America. And when they came life of Native Americans changed. Let’s discuss what happened to them. Find on your desks yellow cards, card 1.  Here you can see the text, but some words are missed, can you see the gaps? Your task is to fill the gaps. Words in the box can help you. Work in pairs now to complete the task.

V. Контроль усвоения пройденного материала, обсуждение допущенных ошибок и их коррекция.

Now let’s sum up the information. Find green cards on your desks, card 2. I want you now to speak about Native Americans. Plan on the card and on the screen will help you. You will work in groups. The first group will speak about the first period, before Europeans arrived. And the second group will speak about Indians’ life after Europeans’ arrival. Each of you should say at least one sentence.

VI. Обучение аудированию.

T.: Do you know this boy? – Yes, I do. And do you know this girl? – Yes, I do.

And do you know, guys, that there are people that are famous all over the world? Every nation has such people and among Indians there were people, that are still well-known. One of them is Pocahontas. Now, please find pink cards on your desks, Card 3. I will tell you about Pocahontas and you listen to the text very attentively and choose the right item to complete the sentences.

Famous American Names

Pocahontas was a young daughter of one of the Indian chiefs. She was curious about white people and trusted them. She often visited them and soon the white settlers knew her well and liked her. She learned a few words of English and could speak with them. She helped to keep peace between the Indians and the whites. Once the Indians wanted to kill Captain Smith, the leader of the white settlers, but Pocahontas, who was twelve then, saved him by standing in front of him. After that the English trusted her even more.

     When she was 17, she fell in love with an Englishman, so she became a Christian and married him. Pocahontas visited England and met the King and the Queen. She gave birth to a son in England. Unfortunately, she fell ill, just before going to America, and died. Pocahontas lived a short life but people remember her as a symbol of friendship.

T.: Our lesson is coming to an end. I want you to write down your home task for tomorrow. You are to prepare a short message about life of Native Americans using your green cards.
