  • We have already begun speaking about London. Every year a lot of people visit London. Can you think of any reason for traveling to London? Today I’ve received an invitation. My friends invite me to visit them. Do you want to travel with me? So, are you ready to travel? Let’s go! I’ll give you papers and you will write what would you like to know about London. And this is our map, we will reach London by ship. Our voyage will be very interesting, because there are many islands, and by the way we must do the tasks which are given in the islands. Ok! Are you ready? Then let’s go!!!

  • What was your homework? Ex.11, p.173 to read and translate the text “The Romans”. Then we will check up the homework.

  1. About London and Astana. The Sightseeing Island

Sightseeing of London:

  1. St. Paul’s Cathedral. --- The St Paul's is the fifth cathedral to have stood on the site since 604, and was built between 1675 and 1710, after the Great Fire of London. This was first cathedral to be built after the English Reformation in the sixteenth century.

3.The tower of London.--- The Tower of London is one of the world’s most famous buildings, and now welcomes two million visitors each year. It has been a palace, a prison, a royal mint and even a zoo!

4.The Tower Bridge.--- Tower Bridge was completed in 1894. Now, in a most imaginative modern development, visitors can once again venture inside the bridge to find one of London's most unusual and exciting attractions.

5. The Houses of Parliament.--- Home of the British Government, the building is actually called the Palace of Westminster, but is more commonly known as the Houses of Parliament.

6. The Big Ben. --- Possibly the most famous clock face and chimes in the world, Big Ben is actually the name of the biggest bell (13.5 tons) inside The Clock Tower (320ft) which forms part of the Houses of Parliament.

7. BuckinghamPalace .--- Buckingham Palace is the London home of The Queen and Prince Philip.

8. Westminster Abby. --- An architectural masterpiece of the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries, Westminster Abbey. It has been the setting for every coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal occasions. Today it is still a church dedicated to regular worship and to the celebration of great events in the life of the nation.

Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan.Astana is the capital and second largest city (behind Almaty) of Kazakhstan, with an officially estimated population (1 Dec. 2007) of 600,200. It is located in the north-central portion of Kazakhstan, within Akmola Province, although it is politically separate from the rest of the province, which has its own capital. The word Astana in Kazakh language literally means Capital city.

  1. Khan Shatyry.---Khan Shatyry in this line is the westernmost object. By design, it is the giant tent, and is considered one of the highest building of tent type in the world- the height of 102 meters, and with the spire – exactly 150 meters.

  1. Ishim River  is a river running through Kazakhstan and Russia. Its length is 2,450 km. It is a left tributary of the Irtysh River. The Ishim River is partly navigable in its lower reaches. The upper course of the Ishim passes through Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. In Russia, the river travels through a vast marshland for its course, and has countless meanders and oxbow lakes.

  1. Palace of Peace and Reconciliation (Pyramid of Peace)

The pyramid has been conceived and designed by architect Sir Norman Foster and engineers BuroHappold and inaugurated in September 2006. It has a 1,500- seat opera house, a national museum of culture, a new “university of civilization”, a library and a research center for Kazakhstan’s ethnic and geographical groups.

  1. Ak-Orda is the residence of the president of RK in Astana. The total area of the building is 36 720m2. They began to build it in 2001, but it’s presentation was December 24,2004.

  1. The Nur-Astana Mosque  is a mosque located in the city of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. It is the largest mosque of Kazakhstan and the biggest mosque in Central Asia. The 40-meter height symbolizes the age of the Prophet Muhammad of when he received the revelations, and the height of the minarets is 63 meters, the age Muhammad was when he died.
