Урок английского языка. "Выбор профессии"

Тема: “Choosing a career”

Класс: 8 класс

Цель урока:  содействовать учащимся в выборе будущей профессии, развивать навыки монологической речи по теме «Выбор профессии», совершенствовать лексические навыки и расширять лексический запас слов, стимулировать интерес к трудовой и учебной деятельности.

 

Практические:

•          Систематизация знаний учащихся по теме “The World of Professions

•          Развитие речевых умений

Образовательные:

•          Развитие коммуникативных способностей,

•          совершенствование лексических навыков и грамматических говорения,

•          развитие монологической и диалогической формы речи по теме “The World of Professions”

•          совершенствование навыков  аудирования.

Развивающие:

•          развитие способности к обобщению, анализу, логичности,

•          развитие памяти, воображения, эмоциональности,

•          развитие умения   высказывать   свою   точку   зрения,  умения   определить   и сформулировать собственные пути решения проблемы.

Воспитательные:

•          содействовать профориентации учащихся;

•          развивать способность принимать самостоятельные решения в выборе профессии;

•          учить правильной самооценке своих способностей и интересов;

•          формировать потребности в практическом использовании языка

Тип урока:

•          комбинированный урок

Планируемые результаты обучения:

 

Личностные:

формировать чувство потребности в выборе профессии востребованной в современном обществе;

помочь учащимся определиться с выбором будущей профессии;

формировать качества, необходимые для успешности в будущей профессиональной деятельности.

Метапредметные:

умение планировать работу, сравнивать, обобщать, делать логические выводы;

умение работать с различными источниками информации, выделять главное;

умение осуществлять работу в команде.

Предметные:

умение логично и последовательно выражать свое мнение в соответствии с коммуникативной задачей;

умение воспринимать иноязычную речь на слух с визуальной опорой и строить логическое высказывание по теме;

умение работать со справочной литературой, словарем;

умение использоватьграмматические структуры в речи;

 

 

I. Начальный этап.

1. Организационный момент.

Настрой работы учащихся на атмосферу иноязычного общения.

Good morning, girls and boys and our guests! I’m glad to see you.

How are you today?

I’m fine. Thank you.

Sit down, please, and let’s start our lesson.

My dear children try to guess the topic of our today’s lesson.

2. Целеполагание. Сообщение задач урока, мотивация учебной деятельности, настрой учащихся на работу

Look, what I’ve brought for you. (учитель показывает предметы, говорящие о профессии:

аптечка (medicine chest), классный журнал (class register), CD, словарь (dictionary), молоток (hammer), отвертка (screwdriver), ножницы (scissors) , расческа (comb), сантиметр (tape measure), нитки (thread)

Now  I’m going to divide them into 2 groups. (учитель раскладывает предметы на две группы, называя их. 1 группа - medicine chest, class register, CD, dictionary; 2 группа - hammer, screwdriver, scissors, comb, tape measure, thread).

What do all the things in each of the groups have in common?

P: Professions

T: What education do you need to use these things?

P - To use these things we should have a university degree.

P - To use those things we should have a vocational training.

T: So there are two ways to success: via vocational training and via university.

THE WORLD OF PROFESSIONS (Слайд 1)

T:  The theme of our lesson is: «THE WORLD OF PROFESSIONS” . This theme is very important for everybody and the soon you’ll choose your job. I hope our lesson will help you to make your choice, we’ll try to learn how to choose a profession, which makes you be happy.

I wish you to be brave and active during our lesson and to show all knowledge according to our topic.

I would like our day to be wonderful, so let’s start the lesson with saying compliments. (P1-P2, P2 – P3)

P1 -D, you look wonderful today!

P2 - Thanks, you are very kind. N, your smile is so charming!

P3 - Thanks a lot. I’m pleased to hear that. Arterm, you are so polite!

What should we take into account choosing a career andIs it necessary to get higher education to be successful?

I hope, by the end of today’s lesson you will be able to answer these questions.

II. Фонетическая  зарядка

Open, please, your vocabulary notes and read the words after me. First of all let’s revise some popular professions. Look at the screen and try to remember the name of the profession.

2. My friends! Look at our screen, you see the poem “I want to be”.

-I’d like you to read this poem. Any volunteers?

“I want to be”

Some people often say to me

“Have you decided what you want to be?”

I usually answer “I don’t know.”

But it isn’t really so.

I want to win an Olympic race.

I want to see the Earth from space,

I want to travel to Katmandu.

I want to reach and famous, too.

I want to be on Hollywood’s screen.

I want to invent a new machine,

I want to be very clever and wise,

I want to win the Nobel prize,

But most off all, I want to be

Healthy, strong and nice.

T- Now I want you to translate this poem.

III. Активизация лексического материала в речи учащихся, формирование положительной мотивации. Игра «Угадай профессию».

T:  Now it`s time for a guessing-game “What profession is it?» Guess what profession is described here.

Listen to the definition of the professions, try to guess and name them.

 

        1. someone who can count well and keeps the money records of a business

        2. someone who makes walls with bricks

        3. someone who designs clothes

        4. someone who writes computer programs

        5. someone who gets cash or pays out money in a shop

        6. someone who repairs cars

        7. someone who works at the reception desk of a hotel

        8. someone whose job is to design buildings

        9. someone whose job is to manage a company

        10.someone who studies or works in physics

Развитие  логического  мышления.

2) Teacher: You are right. Now look at the list of adjectives and choose what qualities are required for the following professions.

Учащиеся   используют  прилагательные : sociable, creative, patient, brave, polite, active, attentive, confident , determined, fair, imaginative, responsible, cooperative, tolerant, understanding, careful, courageous, intelligent.

Teacher: Well, finish my phrase, please:

a good judge should be....

To my mind a good teacher should be...

An engineer should be...

a good actor should be

a good teacher should be

a good manager should be

a good policeman should be

a good mechanic should be

a good doctor should be

 

Teacher: You know that while choosing a career we should take into account some important things. What are they?

P1 - We should take into account our interests when choosing a career.

P2 - I think it’s important to identify our skills and talents.

P3 - I think we should try to become well educated.

P4 - Improve our computer and technical skills is also very important.

P5 - If someone we know has a career that interests us, we should look into it. Talk to graduates of the education and training programs we are interested in.

P6 - We should be ready to change and adapt.

P7 - And of course, we should take into account career market. We should find out what jobs are necessary.

Teacher: You are right.

IV. Основной этап.

Reading.

Teacher: I see that you are ready to give some advice to school leavers. Ex. 67 p.39 will help you. Open your books. Read and say what jobs you would recommend these school leavers if you were a career adviser. Explain your choice. (Учитель распределяет части текста между парами учащихся, каждая пара готовит ответ по своей части текста.)

 

P1- I would recommend Sam to be a driver, because he likes working with machines, has driving license.

P 2- I would not recommend Lisa to enter a university, because she is not very advanced academically, but she is very sociable, so she can be a shop assistant, a hairdresser, a receptionist or a waitress.

P3 - I would recommend Melissa to become a librarian or a journalist, because she likes reading and writing. May be she can become a teacher.

P4 - I would recommend Kevin to be a photographer, because…

P5 I would recommend Pauline to be a veterinarian or a farmer, because …

Teacher: Do you think that being a good auto mechanic or an experienced electrician is less prestigious than being a good doctor or a lawyer?

P1 – I think that if you are skilled and experienced in your job, people will respect you.

P2 – If somebody loves cars and can spend hours helping his father to fix his car he can become a good and well-paid mechanic in future.

P3- At the same time if you want to get a well-paid and prestigious job after graduating from the university you also need a lot of practice, because students at universities learn a lot of theory and do not focus on learning practical skills.

P4– If you are interested in hairdressing or making clothes and try to be a good specialist, you will have many grateful clients in spite of the fact you have no university degree.

P5 – You can be a good specialist without a university degree but very often people think that vocational schools are for those who had bad marks at school.

V. Развитие навыков аудирования

 Актуализация лексики по теме и опорных знаний, развитие навыков извлечения информации, расширение кругозора.

Teacher:   You all understand that choosing a career is the problem of vital necessity for many teenagers and most of them are afraid of facing the real world. Now listen to the interview and be ready to discuss it. Be attentive. Listen to five people  talking about choosing a profession and match them with the jobs. There is one extra.

T.: What would you like to be? Do you know what type of job you would like to have? Some weeks ago you answered our psychologists’ questions about your interests, tendencies. And we see what our career specialist says about you!

6% of   pupils have inclinations in a sphere of man and man

47% of   pupils have inclinations in a sphere of man and man

31% of  pupils have inclinations in a sphere of man and and-sign system

Teacher: I think some of you have already chosen your future profession.

VIII. Работа в группах. Диалогическая речь.

 Актуализация умений в диалогической речи по теме Развитие внимания, логического мышления, навыков работы в группе, развитие практических речевых умений.

Ученики делятся на 3 группы по 4 человека, и каждая группа выбирает карточку с заданием.

T.: . I offer you a chance to become a career adviser and practice in giving advice to your classmates. The task is you should advise your classmate to make the right choice. You should consider the personal qualities of your classmates and the traits of character. Discuss the task in groups.

Card № 1.

Evgeni wants to be a computer programmer.

What personal qualities should he have?

Group 1: Evgeni, we advise you to be a computer programmer, because you know computers very well, you can work in such programs as Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Power Point, you are very educated, creative, curious, patient. We ask you to follow our advice.

Card № 2.

Nastya wants to be a promoter or a teacher .

 What personal qualities should she have?

Group 2: Sveta, we think, that the best profession for you is the profession of a dress designer. You have got taste, you can draw, you are creative, imaginative, energetic, ambitious, confident and responsible. If you want to be happy choose this profession.

Card № 3.

Naday  wants to be a journalist.

What personal qualities should she have?

Group 3: Ira wants to be a journalist and we agree with her choice, because she is sociable, educated, courageous, her English and Russian are not very bad and her compositions were always the best ones.

(Ученики выполняют задания в группах 3-4 минуты. Затем отвечают вслух)

Teacher: Well done.

IX. Повторение и закрепление материала урока. Совершенствование навыков общения, развитие творческого мышления, развитие навыков работы в команде.

 Now I want you to form two groups. Each group will sum up the ideas we’ve discussed at our lesson and answer one of the questions:

1.      What should we take into account choosing a career?

2.      Is it necessary for you to get higher education to be successful in life?

Teacher: Then, why do you think most teens try to enter University and get higher education in spite of the fact that it is easier to find a job after finishing vocational or technical schools? What are your ideas?

P1- They think that vocational learning is for people who don’t do well at school.

P2 – Because their friends enter the university.

P3 – They are afraid, they can’t find a well- paid job without having a degree.

P4 – They are not healthy enough to work somewhere at the factory or at the construction.

P5 – Their parents want them to get higher education.

P6 – They want to have prestigious work.

T- You are right. In my opinion for many people money is one of the most important factors when they make a choice. On the other hand, it`s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It`s very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important.

X. Подведение итогов урока. Выставление оценок.

Let’s sum up. Now you know – to choose a job you need to realize what you are interested in, what characteristics and qualities are necessary or important for these jobs. I’d like to say that we should develop certain traits, should have a plan, have and follow somebody’s example in life. Then we may become success.

- Marks for the lesson. For this lesson you’ve got fives….and fours...

XI. The homework :   1. find information about « hot» jobs in Moscow

                                       2. tell about your choice of the future profession.
