T. Today we continue speaking about the Foundation of the British Law. During the previous lessons we’ve learnt about 3 main documents regarded as a cornerstone of British liberties. What are they?

T: Today we are to speak about the 4th very important document “ The Bill of Rights”. So, guess what our task for today’s lesson is?

T: Summing it up, today we are to find out the historical background of the Bill of the Rights, to see how it works nowadays and to analyze its historical influence on the modern law systems in different countries of the world. Besides, we are to revise some rules of word formation in order to get ready to our State Exam next year. Moreover, we are planning to listen to the presentations of our students in order to develop our listening skills and developing our outlook. As the result of our work at the lesson at home you will write a letter to your English-speaking pen-friend .
T: To begin with, let’s revise the most important information about the main legal documents of the United Kingdom. What is the main idea of the Magna Carta?

T.: What did the Petition of Rights proclaim?
( Учащиеся отвечают на вопрос : The Petition of Rights restricted the monarch’s rights and banned him to raise taxes without Parliament’s consent)
T: Habeas Corpus Act is still on the British statute books. Why?
( Учащиеся отвечают на вопрос : It guarantees that nobody can be held in prison without trial and it is still vitally important)
Блок 1 .The revision of the Vocabulary
T. Now I’m sure that we are ready to continue our work. First of all, let’s check your home task , revise the vocabulary and do phonetic drills at the same time. Open your books and papers at p.23 ex 4 . Repeat after me:…..( хором (англо-английский) и фронтально( русско-английский перевод) )Now work in pairs and check how you matched the English expressions with their Russian equivalents.20 seconds will be enough, I think.

T. : Now work in groups and complete exercises on word-building. You may consult the text in exercises 3, 4. Don’t forget to discuss the translation of the words. When you have finished , one representative from each group will go to the blackboard and write down the words. Mind the part of the speech ,please! )

At home you ‘ve read the text about the Bill of Rights, one of the basic instruments of the British constitution. Alina and Nastya have prepared a presentation with some additional information about this document. Please, listen to the girls and be ready to answer the questions.

T.: All the previous assignments were aimed at fulfilling our next task # 7. Imagine that you work as interpreters in the museum of National Archieves of the United Kingdom. Your task is to interpret the following message.(p.24 ex.7)
Before we start let’s revise some words and word-combinations:

…. At school we are doing projects on law systems of different countries . To my mind, Russia is the least known country for my classmates. That’s why I want you to help me. Could you tell me about the most important law documents of your country? What kind of political system is there in Russia? How is it different from the political system of the United Kingdom?
