Theme: The funny animals.

Aims: to consolidate pupils’ knowledge of the words on the topic “Animals”, “Parts of the body”, “Numerals”, to develop pupils’ habits and skills of oral speech and discussing, to bring up pupils’ interest to English.


Visual aids: cards, flash cards, pictures.



Development of the lesson.


I. Organization moment

Hello, children.

How are you today?

Sit down, please.


II. The aim of the lesson

Today we’ll have a very interesting trip to the funny animals. Let’s divide our class into three teams. All together we going to travel by train and during the trip you will have different tasks.


III. The first station “Clever elephant”.

  • Try to guess what animal it is:

1. It’s small, it can run, it has a long tail, it likes cheese, it’s grey (mouse).

2. It’s big, it can swim, it has a long green tail, it has big teeth, it has big teeth, it likes fish and frogs (crocodile).

3. It’s big, it can climb, it has a short tail and neck, it’s brown, it likes honey (bear).

4. It’s very big, it has big ears, short tail and neck, it’s grey (elephant).

5. It’s small, it can run and jump, it likes milk, it has long tail, it says “meu-meu” (cat).

6. It’s big, It has a very long neck and a short tail, it can run, it’s yellow (giraffe).

7. It’s wild animal, it is not big, it can jump and run very fast. It’s orange and black. It likes meat (tiger).


IV. The second station “Crazy monkey”.

  • Look, this monkey spoiled the words. All the animals are black –and-white. Help the animals to fill the gaps.

Crocodile: g_ _ _ n

Lion: y _ ll _ _

Pig: _ _ d

Monkey: bl _ _

Mouse: g _ ey

Bear: w _ it_


V. The third station “Lovely lion”.

- You see, the monkey spoiled the words again! Help little lion to make up the words from the letters.

Wolf, crocodile, elephant, horse, lion, tiger, monkey, zebra, giraffe.


VI. The dog station.

- Look at the pictures. Whose dog is it?

1 – 4, 2 – 2, 3 – 1, 4 – 3.


  • Now look at these pictures. As you see, there are 5 animals. Find their masters.

1. She has got short hair, blue eyes, short neck, short body, long nose. Shi is Ann.

2. He has got long arms and legs, short ears and long hair. He is Bob.

3. She has got long body, long arms and legs, big mouth, short hair. She is Sara.

4. She has got long legs, big mouth, long neck, long hair. She is Pam.

5. He has got big hands but short legs. His neck is short. His nose is big. He is Sam.


VII. The fifth station: “Bear station”.

  • Each of you will have a pet. Describe your pet and let the other team guess the names of the animals. The bear will help you.

For example: I have got a pet. It has got a long tail and short neck. It can swim. It’s crocodile.


VIII. The sixth station “Crazy monkey”.

  • Complete the puzzle.
