по теме «Россия – моя Родина»

 

 

Тема урока: “Russia, My Homeland” («Россия – моя Родина»).

Цель урока: формирование коммуникативной компетенции учащихся на основе изученных лексических единиц, речевых и грамматических структур по страноведческой тематике.

Задачи урока.

Образовательные задачи:

1.    Совершенствование лексических навыков по страноведческой тематике на уровне свободного высказывания в виде монологической и диалогической речи.

2.    Тренировка учащихся в умении вести общение на английском языке в предлагаемых ситуациях и ролевых играх.

Развивающие задачи:

1.    Формирование и развитие коммуникативных умений и навыков (умение пользоваться речью: монологической, диалогической; умение слушать и слышать; умение участвовать в дискуссии);

2.    Формирование и развитие учебно-организационных умений и навыков (взаимоконтроль, навыки самостоятельной работы, умение участвовать в коллективной познавательной деятельности, умение обобщать и анализировать).

Воспитательные задачи:

1.    Воспитание чувства любви и уважения к своей стране и родному городу.

2.    Развитие патриотических качеств личности учащегося.

Оборудование: компьютер; мультимедийный проектор; интерактивная доска;

План урока.

     I.          Начало урока (приветствие; сообщение цели урока; речевая зарядка).

  II.          Центральная часть урока:

1)             выполнение теста «География России» (контроль домашнего задания);

2)             заполнение схемы российского правительства;

3)             аудирование информации о символах России, обсуждение прослушанного в группах;

4)             просмотр видеоролика-загадки;

5)             беседа о подвиге русского народа в Великой Отечественной войне, о чувствах национальной гордости за свою страну и любви к ней.

III.          Заключительная часть урока (подведение итогов; домашнее задание в форме теста-викторины «Насколько вы патриотичны?»; оценивание деятельности учащихся на уроке, выставление отметок).

 

 

 

 

 

Ход урока:

 

I

Приветствие.

T: Good morning, boys and girls! I’m very glad to see you.

P: Good morning, teacher!

T: Sit down, please!

Сообщение цели урока, темы.

T: Dear children! I expect our lesson to be very interesting and exciting today because we are going to talk about your dearest and most favourite place on the Earth, about the greatest and most powerful country. Can you guess what country it is?

P: I suppose we are going to talk about Russia.

T: Right you are. Read the name of our lesson, please.

P: The name of our lesson is “Russia, My Homeland.”

Речевая зарядка.

T: What is the official name of our country?

P: The official name of our country is the Republic of the Russian Federation.

T: What is the capital of the Russian Federation?

P: The capital of Russia is Moscow.

T: What is the population of our country?

P: The population of our country is over 140 million people.

T: Why do we call the Russian Federation a multinational country?

P: We call Russia a multinational country because people of different ethnic groups live there.

T: What nations make up the Russian Federation?

P: Russians, Tatars, Ukrainians, Chuvash’s, Bashkir’s, Belarussians, Mordva and other nations make up the Russian Federation.

T: Russia is the largest country in the world, isn’t it?

P: Yes, it is.

T: You can see a map of Russia on your desks. Look at it and choose the right geographical names to complete the statements in the test. Do it as long as the music sounds. Учащиеся выполняют тестовое задание, пока звучит музыка. (Тест можно предложить учащимся как в бумажном, так и в электронном виде в программе Excel или MS PowerPoint).

T: Are you ready? Exchange your works, please, and check them on your own. You may use the keys… Now hand in your tests. I shall see them later.

Учащиеся обмениваются работами и осуществляют взаимопроверку по ключам. (Если тест выполнялся на компьютерах, учащиеся получают отметку по окончании работы)

T: Russia is not only the largest country in the world it is also one of the most powerful states. Look at the screen, please. Here is hidden the structure of the Russian National Government. Let’s restore the scheme. Please, click on one of the boxes, read the sentence and complete it. Check your answer and click on the appropriate word to fill in the scheme.

P: The Russian Federation is a presidential republic.

P: The Russian President is Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev.

T: You know that each state has its symbols. What are the official symbols of our country?

P: The official symbols of Russia are the flag, the national emblem and the anthem.

T: Listen to the text for the information on the flag and the state emblem of the Russian Federation.

T: Let’s divide our class into two groups.

Group 1, talk about the flag of our country. Use the questions as a guide (ex. 99, p.94):

–      What is the flag called? Why?

–      What are the colours of the flag?

–      What do they stand for?

–      What changes has the flag gone through over the years?

Group 2, use the following questions to talk about the emblem of Russia (ex. 102, p.95):

–      What is the emblem of Russia?

–      How does the design of the emblem reflect the history of our country?

–      Do you agree that the emblem of a country reflects not only the history of the country but also the spirit of the nation through its symbols?

–      Can we say that the National Emblem of our country signifies our history?

Учащиеся делятся на две группы. Первая группа говорит о национальном флаге, вторая – о государственном гербе.

T: And I suggest you to go for an exciting journey just now. Let’s watch a video clip about one of the Russian cities. Try to guess what city it is about.

Аудирование текста с просмотром видеозаписи. Учащимся предлагается угадать, о каком городе идет речь. Просмотр останавливается прежде, чем на экране появится название города.

T: Well, what city is the film about?

P₁: I suppose it is about the city of Volgograd.

T: Let’s go on viewing to see if you are right.

T: Well, you have guessed. You are very attentive today. I would like to present you with the booklet about Volgograd. Take it, please.

P₁: Thank you very much.

T: I think the memory of World War II is deeply felt in Russia, isn’t it? What is special about this holiday this year?

P₁: In 2010 we are going to celebrate the 66^th anniversary of the end of the Soviet Union’s participation in World War II in Europe.

P₂: Annually on the 9^th of May we celebrate Victory Day.

 

 

 

III

Подведение итогов урока.

T: Well done. I think we must always remember the heroism of our soldiers during the war. We must be proud of them and of our Motherland. Are you proud of your country? Do you love it?

P₁: Yes, I’m proud of Russia and I like it very much.

P₂: I love my country and I’m very proud of it, too.

The Flag of the Russian Federation

 

The Russian flag is sometimes called the IMPERIAL FLAG. It consists of three equal stripes of white, blue and red. The first flag of this design appeared more than 300 years ago. Peter the Great adapted the flag from the National flag of the Netherlands. Later a black two-headed eagle on a golden background was added to the flag of Russia. The flag existed until the revolution in 1917. In the nineties, with the democratic changes, the three-colour flag was restored again. On 21 August 1991, the flag was officially adopted by the Russian President and the Russian Parliament. In Russia the colours of the current flag symbolize:

•         white — frankness and generosity;

•         blue — honesty and wisdom;

•         red — courage and love.

 

The Emblem of the Russian Federation

 

The Russian National Emblem is the golden DOUBLE-HEADED EAGLE with a horseman (St George) on a shield on the eagle's breast with a red background. Above the two heads of the eagle, there is an historical crown.

The first emblem of the double-headed eagle was introduced in 1480, by Prince Ivan III. It was at the time of the establishment of the Russian state system. It symbolized the supreme power and sovereignty of the state.

Since then, the double-headed eagle is the main part of the emblem of our country. But now the crown is a symbol of the sovereignty both of the Russian Federation (as a whole) and of its parts (subjects of the Federation.

Role play the situation.

Imagine that you are a foreigner. Your name is Mark MacWizard; you are a student from Tunbridge Wells, England. You began learning Russian two years ago and took an interest in this country. Recently you have come to Russia to see it with your own eyes. You are very interested in everything connected with the country.

Two days ago you visited Moscow, went sightseeing there and took some pictures of its places of interest.

Now you are visiting students of the ninth form in town of Balakovo. You are taking part in their talk about Russia.

Your communicative intentions:

1.       introduce yourself;

2.       ask about traditionally Russian souvenirs and gifts;

3.       ask about one of the famous Russian people you can’t recognize (their portraits are on the blackboard);

4.       say that you have learnt a lot of new things about outstanding Russian people during your current visit;

5.       say a few words about staying in Moscow, tell the students that the city is remarkable for its monuments, show these photos and ask students to help you making up captions for them;

6.       answer some student’s questions;

7.       thank the students for their hospitality.

We want to tell you about one of the most attractive Russian cities, situated on the banks of the picturesque river Volga. Its original name was Tsarizin.

Founded in 1589 as a guarding fortress of the southern borders of Russia, the town was a witness of many historical events.

The Volga-river has always been part of the town’s history. Famous for its rare beauty and unique landscape, the river has become a symbol of the city and one of the most favourite places of its people.

The advantageous geographical position of the city created favourable conditions for its development. Nowadays it is a large industrial, administrative, educative and cultural centre, with the population of over one million citizens. It is the city of unusual beauty, where a lot can be seen and much can be done.

With its wonderful squares, wide streets, and green parks the city looks smart and splendid. There are a great number of museums, exhibitions, modern and historical places of interest there. Its beautiful buildings with interesting architecture make a vivid impression on its visitors. Numerous monuments and memorials can be seen in the streets of the town which is also famous for being a memorial city.

The memory of World War II is deeply felt here. There is a place in the city which is closely connected with the events of the Great Patriotic War and the Stalingrad Battle – it is the glorified Mamayev Hill with its memorial complex “To the Heroes of the Stalingrad Battle”, which appears to be the most attended monument in Russia.
