T.: P1 would you like to ask P2 if she likes such a weather (управляемый диалог)

Ученики отвечают на вопрос, используя фразы - клише для выражения личного мнения. T.: We’ve spoken about the weather. “The Weather” is the favourite conversational topic in England. The weather in Great Britain is very changeable. A fine morning can change into a wet afternoon and evening. And a nasty morning can change to a fine afternoon.

Let’s read about the weather in England, but at first pay attention to the pronunciation of the following words:

3. Фонетическая зарядка (лексическая).

T-G (хоровая работа): Changeable, wet, nasty, comparison, statement, to go abroad, damp, nationality, fireplace, to look forward to, the continent, aspect, fog, extremely, to spread( spread, spread), to creep ( crept, crept), accident, to lose way, to be run over by a car.

T.: Now translate these words and word combination from Russian into English. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the words.

II. Основной этап.

4. Чтение текста “English weather” .

Учебник “ Английский язык” автор А.П. Агабекян, с.136. The English also say that they have three variants of weather: when it rains in the morning, when it rains in the afternoon or when it rains all day long. The weather is the favourite conversational topic in England. When two Englishmen meet, their fist words will be “How do you do?” or “How are you?”. And after the reply “Very well, thank you; how are you?” the next remark is almost certain to be about the weather. When they go abroad the English often surprise people of other nationalities by this tendency to talk about the weather, a topic of conversation that other people do not find so interesting. The best time of the year in England is spring (of course, it rains in spring, too). The two worst months in Britain are January and February. They are cold, damp and unpleasant. The best place in the world then is at home by the big fire in the fireplace. Summer months are rather cold and there can be a lot of rainy days. So most people, who look forward to summer holidays, plan to go abroad in summer to France or somewhere on the Continent.

T.: Would you like to answer my questions. (Контроль понимания прочитанного)

T.: Is the weather in England changeable?

P1 : Yes ,it is. The weather in England is very changeable.

T.: What is the favourite conversational topic in Great Britain?

P2: The favourite conversational topic in Great Britain is “the weather”.

T.: What is the best time of the year in England?

P3: The best time of the year in England is spring.

T.: What are the coldest months?

P4: They are January and February.

T.: What do the most people look forward to?

P5: Most people look forward to summer holidays plan to go abroad in summer to France or somewhere on the Continent.

T.: What is the most unpleasant aspect of English weather?

P6: It’s smog. This is extremely bad in big cities and especially in London.

5. Монологическая речь.

T.: The weather in London is just perfect today. The sun is shining. The sky is blue and there is no smog. Would you like to travel to Great Britain?

Would you like to say some words about Great Britain? (контроль монологической речи)

Примерный монолог: (см. учебник английского языка под редакцией А.П.Агабекяна стр. 121.)

Thank you! Unfortunately we cannot go to Great Britain without money. By the way, what is the basic unit of British currency: pound or dollar?

P: The basic unit of British currency is pound.

T.: Right you are. English people have pounds and pence. Listen to me and revise after me: currency, pound, note, euro. Be attentive: (на доске) I have got five pounds, but I’ve got a five-pound note.
