Food and Drinks. In a Café.
Урок-соревнование
в 6 классе (заключительный урок по теме). Password: ‘’Don’t be as cool as a
cucumber.”
Objectives:
1) to show that students can speak about food; 2)to show that students know a
lot about healthy food; 3) to show that they know how to use some,any,
Present Perfect ,phrases of agreement and disagreement; 4)to show that students
can work in groups; 5)to teach students some new facts about meals in Great
Britain.
Necessary
equipment: a record with music played in a café,a record of the song ‘Have you
ever eaten…’’, a microphone, plates, cups, food etc. for laying the table, the
menu, the advertisement for the café, a special miracle-tree.
Warming-up:
teacher’s greetings : “How are you, Sasha? How are things, Olga? How’s life,
Dasha? What’s the news, Oleg? Glad to see you, Ann! Nice to see you ,Pete!’
Students answer these greetings.Some other questions:”What did you have for
breakfast? What’s your favourite food? Etc.
Motivation:
as there are pictures with food and dishes on the blackboard, students can
easily speak about the objectives of the lesson
Now the
competition starts. There are 3-4 groups of students. Each group answers the
questions and gets points which are placed on the blackboard.
Question1
‘’How do you understand the password?’’ Each group answers this question and
gets 1 point.
Revising the
poem ‘’Robin Bobin” and doing the exercise ‘’Respond”
1) What did
he eat? 2)Why did he eat it? 3) Was it normal?
2)Exercise
“Respond using phrases of Agreement and Disagreement:
a) you can
also eat a church,a temple, b)you don’t eat such things, you eat healhy food,
c) your mother cooks healthy food for you; d)you don’t like ice-cream e) you
prefer drinking milk in the morning
3) exercises on the Magic Tree ( на доске рисунок большого дерева
с прорезями. В них вставлены отдельные слова, которые нужно перевести или
объяснить на английском языке, чтобы дети догадались, или нужно составить
предложение с этим словом или фразой.). После этого группы по очереди выбирают
вопросы на дереве и отвечают на них
What food
makes your bones and teeth strong? What food makes you grow? What kind of
healthy food do you eat? Do you eat the right food? (Students get points for
their answers) 4)Making dialogues: (students choose cards with tasks from the
tree). 1.You are thirsty….2.you are hungry…3.Is there any milk in the fridge?
4.Can I have a hamburger? (Students of each group get points for these
dialogues)
5.Singing
the song” Have you ever had a hot dog with…”

Grammer: Translation of the sentences :
1)Я
приготовил вкусный обед 2) Моя мама только что пожарила картофель. 3)Ты
когда-нибудь ел суши? 4)Я только что испекла вкусный пирог.(выставляются баллы
группам)
7.Каждая
группа получает 4 полоски с исчисляемыми и неисчисляемыми существительными.
Ученики располагают их в нужные колонки на доске и получают баллы.
8.Упражнение на местоимения Some ,Any
9.Students

have? What is your favourite food? Do you like apples? Etc. (Students get
points)

Performing a scene “In a Café” (prepared beforehand by each group)(Getting
points)
11. Watching
the video “English Food” Answering the questions or giving the facts from the
film and getting points.
12.Reflection:
counting the points, giving marks. The groups answer the question “What did you
do at the lesson?” and express their emotions.
