Тип: урок комплексного применения знаний.
Тема: “The meaning of dreaming”.
Цель: систематизация и обобщение знаний в употреблении пройденных грамматических времен.
Задачи:
– образовательные: создать условия для активизации и закрепления знаний образования и использования в речи грамматических времен: Present Simple, Past Simple, Present Continuous, Past Continuous, Future Simple, to be going to, Present Perfect; способствовать расширению актуального словарного запаса обучающихся;
– развивающие: создание условий для развития внимания, восприятия, памяти, мышления, навыков и умений аудирования, говорения;
– воспитательные: способствовать развитию познавательной активности, воспитывать положительное отношение к английскому языку как средству общения.
Оборудование: карточки со словами прошлого урока (как на англ., так и на русск.); «свитки», перевязанные лентой (на всех свитках написано Time to watch video!); видеоролик “A Very Sleepy Beauty”; телевизор; пластмассовые стаканчики (по количеству обучающихся + 2 шт.); мелкие сладости (конфетки, жевательная резинка, Skittles, M&Ms и др.); картинки (толпа людей на вечеринке, бокал шампанского, цветы в саду, сова на дереве, скрипка, босые ноги); аудиозаписи 3.16, 3.17 (CD 3 к учебнику New English File: Pre-Intermediate); карточки с толкованием снов (Ex.1(d), p. 48. New English File: Pre-Intermediate (SB)); листы с диалогом (typescript аудиозаписей), маркер для доски, магниты.
Ход занятия
You have three minutes to revise the words.

Game
“30 seconds”
– Take the cards one after another. Read every word and translate it. Keep in mind! Time is limited! Only 30 seconds.
– The winner will get a prize.
– OK, count your scores… and our winner is …(name). (The winner), you have the right to choose a prize

– Drum roll…and my congratulations!!! You have won time to watch video. Everybody is thankful to you, I guess.

Watching video
– Watch the video very attentively, please! I’ll ask you one question.

– Do you like this video? What is it about?
(c помощью наводящих вопросов подводим студентов к идее, что видео о ночном кошмаре принцессы)
– What is she doing during the story? Actually, she is sleeping…. What does she have? She has a dream. But it is the frightening dream which is called nightmare…

– Write down the first new word “nightmare”.
List of words:
Nightmare, to be afraid of, to be frightened of, to be angry with, to be angry about, to be famous for, to be nice to smb, to be interested in, to be full of , to be good for, to be bad for smb, to be good at smth, to be bad at smth, early riser/ bird, night owl, to be different from, psychoanalyst, patient, champagne, indeed.
Questions for discussion:
Have you ever had a nightmare? What was your nightmare about? What are you afraid of? (in general) Have you ever dreamt this? What is Dmitri Mendeleev famous for? How did he create it? Why are people interested in dream interpretation? What are your dreams full of? Is it good or bad for people to walk and breathe fresh air before going to bed? Why? Which of you is an early bird? What time do you usually get up? Who is a night owl? What time do you go to bed? Why do you go to bed so late?
– You have five minutes to make the sentences with the new words.

Game
“Magic Cups”
– Do you remember all of your dreams?
–And what about the new words? Do you memorize them? OK.
– The task is to translate 4 words (from Russian into English and vice verse).
– If you don’t make any mistakes, you can choose one of these cups and lift it. If you are lucky, you will find something interesting inside the inverted cup. Let’s go!
– Well done!!!

Listening
Pre-Listening:
– Look at these pictures, please. Have you ever seen such things, creatures in your dreams?
– What do you think… Is it possible for these things to appear in one dream? Of course, it’s possible.
Listening:
– So, we are going to listen to the dialogue between a psychoanalyst and her patient. Listen to the tape very attentively and try to arrange the pictures in the correct order. Make the notes, if it is necessary.
Post-listening:
– What was the first dream? the next one? …
(party, champagne, flowers, violin, owl, feet)
– Good job!
– What do you think his dream means? What does each thing mean?
– I’ll give you the list with interpretations. Match the things with their dream meanings.
– Change your paper with neighbor. Are you ready?
– Listen to Dr Allen’s interpretation and check your answers. (сcorrect the mistakes, please)
– Give the papers back. Now, you know exactly what these things mean.
