I. Introduction. Good afternoon, dear students! Take your seats, please I hope you are not very tired and you’ll be able to work hard and effectively at our lesson. We’ve got so much to do.
II. The objectives of the lesson. As you can see the topic of our lesson is “Job requirements” So the aim of our lesson is to practise English for talking about different jobs, skills and qualities needed to them, expressing your opinion on the most prestigious areas of professional activity, reading and discussing texts. Ready? Let’s get started.
III. Warming-up. Very soon you will finish school. I think that everybody has a dream. One dreams to become a doctor, the other – an economist, and so on. a) Can you name the most popular professions among the young people?
b) Why are they so popular?
c) Have you already made up your mind which profession to choose?
d) Who helped you to choose a profession?
e) Which job suits you? In pairs ask and answer.
IV. Phonetic exercises. To pronounce sounds more clearly let’s do some phonetic exercises. Listen and say after me.

V. Reading. 1 Pre-reading activities. Now we are going to read the text the title of which is ‘’ Financial Careers’’. Can you predict what the text is about? Try to explain the meaning of the word ‘’career’’. The adjectives: brilliant successful glittering distinguished are often used with the word career.
What jobs are related to finances?
As you can see there are 4 subtitles. Let’s read them aloud: fund-raiser tycoon auctioneer dealer Do you understand the meanings of the words? To understand them better, match the words to their definitions.

Now you can see photos of famous people. Name them and guess which career might refer to each of them. How do you think these jobs are better done by men or women, or there is no difference?
2. Reading activities ( jigsaw ). A. Reading for specific information Each student reads one text individually and answers the questions The questions are on the board. 1) What qualities are needed to become…? 2) Do you think that it’s really difficult to become …? 3) What’s the key to success in any career? 4) What questions would you ask in order to get information about each career? B. Swapping stage. Students find partners who read different stories and swap information in groups. C. Comprehension. Students answer the questions individually or they may ask the group for help. 1) Which career doesn’t require specific qualifications? 2) Prove that …should have an ability to control people? 3) Which position may affect your free time? 4) Does position of an auctioneer involve a fixed period of initial training? 5) Is it difficult to employ fund-raisers? 6) Do you need to be a graduate to start your own business?
3. Post-reading activities. Speaking. Look through the text, find necessary information and report your ideas to the class according to the plan.
Would you like to choose any of these careers/ Why? Why not? What qualities do you have / lack? What do you like /dislike about them?
VI. The conclusion of the lesson.
Homework: Write a letter to a charity organization and offer your services, mention your personal qualities and skills.
What have we done today? What marks would you like to get?
