B1:-Hello,
boys and girls! Hello, our guests!
B2:-We
are glad to see you!
B1:-Merry
Christmas!
B2:-And
Happy New Year!
B1:
- Christmas and New Year are the most favorite holidays of English children.
People in Britain celebrate Christmas on the 25 of December- a week before the
New Year. And today we are going to show you how children in England celebrate
these holidays.
B2:
(Christmas cards)
(Christmas tree or New Year tree),
В
XVII
В2:
- Children, we have a New Year tree too! Let`s decorate it!
В1:
Jingle Bells”,
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open
sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
Laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring,
Making spirits bright,
What fun it is to ride
and sing
A sleighing song tonight,
O
[Chorus 2x:]
Jingle bells, jingle
bells,
Jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open
sleigh.
В2:
- What a wonderful song! Thank you very much! Take your seats, please.
В1:
- The beginning of a new year is a time for celebrating and for making a new
start. On New Year`s Eve many people go to parties with their families,
neighbours and friends. In London people gather to celebrate in Trafalgar
Square. From there they can hear Big Ben, the large clock at the Houses of
Parliament.
В2:
- When Big Ban strikes, people all
hug and kiss each other and shout "Happy New Year". But young people
go out and meet their friends at parties, discos and different clubs. But
little children are waiting for Santa Claus. They believe that while they are
sleeping he comes to visit them. He is a kind old man in red clothes with a big
sack of toys. He put sweets and small toys in the children`s stockings.
В1: - Some
people ignore it completely and go to bed at usual time. Others, however, do
celebrate it in one way or another. The most common type of celebration is a
New Year party.
There is a funny tradition connected with the New Year: the 1st
Foot. This is the 1st visitor to enter a house on NY`s morning. He
is a person of great importance. The 1st Foot must be a man because
it is believed that if a woman 1st sets foot in the house, bad luck
will follow throughout the year. Traditionally, the 1st visitor of
the year must carry food, drink and coal into the house. Coal helps to make a
fire in midwinter and there shall never be lack of food and drink during the
coming year.
Witch: - Aha-ha-ha! Look at them! Such silly
boys and girls! Are you waiting for Santa Claus? He will not come! I`ve put a
spell on him in my castle! Ha-ha-ha!
Witch: - Yes, my name is Winnie-the-Witch! And I want to disturb your
holiday!
Ghost and witches, ghost and witches,
Gather here, gather here.
Christmas is here! New Year is here!
Can you hear?
Bats and rats and witches cat,
Skeletons in bowler hats.
Don`t be scared! Santa Claus there isn`t in
I`ve put a spell on him!
Witch: - OK! I see you
want to help your Santa. Then you will have to guess my puzzles!
Witch: - OK! Now listen
to me!
1) What
do snowmen eat for breakfast? (Snowflakes)
2) I
come with cold and snow
But
you like me and know. (Snow)
3) The
little old woman who has 12 children: some short, some long, some cold, some
hot. What is it? (a year)
4) What
can fly, but has no wings? (Time)
5) It
is white? It is cold. We can skate on it. (Ice)
6) I
have needles? I am green. You can put presents under me. (Fur-tree)
-
Oh,
you are not as bad as I thought! You are clever boys and girls! You know
English well! I`ll remove the spell from Santa! I see you love him. Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year!
В1:
“Here
comes Santa Claus” приходит Санта)
Santa Claus: - Merry Christmas and
happy New Year! I know Russian a little.
You’re welcome, Santa !
Santa Claus:
Santa Claus: It’s very good! Well, I want to listen to
them!

together around the New Year Tree!
“Oh New Year Tree”)
Santa Claus: - You are the real little English! Thank
you! Now let`s play a little! During the holiday people not only solve the different
problems, but do a lot of tricks. Let`s play!
B1: OK, Santa. Children , look at this picture. You
can see Santa but without nose. You have a chance to pin the nose on Santa. It
is not easy because you cannot see. You`ll have a scarf on your eyes.
B2: - In England and in the USA during the holiday
carolers go from house to house in the evening. They ring hand bells and sing
carols, Christmas songs. People give the carolers pies, nuts, fruit or a little
money.
We wish you a Merry Christmas.
We wish you a merry
Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!
We want some milk and cookies
We want some milk and cookies
We want some milk and cookies
Please bring it right here!
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it out here!
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!
Santa Claus: - Thank you, kids! It`s a lovely song! I
like it very much!
B1: - Little children, make a ring, make a ring,
Make a ring, make a ring!
We shall sing and snowman will dance,
Snowmen will dance!
(танец
B2: - The snowmen danced very well. Let`s thank them!
But they`ve brought a task. You have to find the hidden New Year words!

Santa: - Very nice of you! Here is your present! If
you want a present, sing us a song you want!
Santa: - With a great pleasure!
And now it`s time for me to go home! Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas!
“Happy New Year”)
Happy New Year
No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and
then
Of a world where every neighbour
is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes,
our will to try
If we don't we might as well
lay down and die
You and I
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...
REFRAIN.
Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It's the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we'll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of eighty-nine...
