Section 1. Holidays are a time for adventures and discoveries

Урок 1.Летние каникулы

Цели: знакомство учащихся с учебником, его структурой и особенностями; формирование навыков чтения и аудирования; введение новой страноведческой информации по теме «Достопримечательности».


Ход урока

  1. Организационный момент.

  • Good morning, dear fiends. (Good morning, teacher.)

  • I am glad to see you.

  • I am fine, thanks. Today we are going to look through your new textbook and find out why teenagers enjoy holidays so much.

II.Ознакомление учащихся с учебником.

This year you have got a new textbook. Let's study its structure. Look through the names of the units. You see that we'll speak about the role of family and friends in our life. We'll learn the information about English-speaking countries and compare them with the Russian Federation. We'll see if travelling is popular nowadays. You will understand how important it is to be tolerant and to live in peace. At the end of the book there are lists of personal and geographical names, a linguistic and cultural guide, grammar reference and a vocabulary. You may use them to find the necessary information. Every unit ends with preparation for testing and the guide how to be a success in testing. So, ask you questions if you have any.

III.Фонетическая разминка.

Now you know a lot about your textbook. Let's pass over to our today's topic “Holidays Are a Time for Adventures and Discoveries”. What sound is this? Pronounce it. Name the words with this sound.

It's time to open your textbooks, page 8. let's read the task of exercise 1. can you make up the sentences using the following word combinitions? Who is ready with the first sentences?

  1. Активизация навыков устной речи по теме «Каникулы».

- Let's divide into pairs, please. You will ask and answer the question of ex.2, p.8. We'll listen to your reports in 3 minutes.

VII.Введение страноведческой информации по теме «Достопримечательности»

When people are on holiday they visit different places of interest. We have found out that you were in museums and theatres, galleries and parks last summer. It's time to check up your geographical knowelendge. You can see the pictures on p.8, ex.3 in your textbooks. What countries are they in?

  1. Развитие навыков аудирования.

- The next task for you is to the dialogue and choose the right statement in ex.4. Let's listen to the dialogue again and find out if you are right.

  1. Формирование навыков чтения и вопросно-ответной работы по тексту.

- Now we know how jason spent his summer holidays. Let's answer the questions. They are in ex.6, p,10 in your textbooks. Who will read the first question? Look through the dialogue. Can you add anything? What do you think about Jason?

X.Подведение итогов урока.

- What have we done today? What was difficult for you? What new words have you learnt? Thank you for your work. The most active students today are … . Your marks for the lesson …. .

Урок 2. Диалог о каникулах

Цели: формирование навыков диалогической речи по теме «Каникулы»; активизация лексиче­ских навыков и навыков аудирования; закрепление произносительных навыков.


Ход урока

I. Организационный момент.

  • Good morning, dear fiends. (Good morning, teacher.)

  • I am glad to see you.

  • We/ll have a talk about holidays and make up a dialogue about your summer holidays.

II.Фонетическая разминка.

- Let's play the game.

III.Речевая разминка.

  • The weather is fine today, isn't it?

  • Do you have to get up early in summer?

  • What did you do last June?

  • Did you play any games in summer? Etc.

IV. Активизация произносительных навыков.

  • It's time to remember some conversational formulas and repeat them after speaker. Let's work in a chain and repeat the sentences one by one. Who will be the first? (Ex.7a/b, p.10)

  1. Проверка домашнего задания.

- Let's check up your hometask and listen to your reading. We'll choose the best reader and I'd like you to read in a natural manner. Listen to your classmates and ask the questions. (Ex.5, p.9)

VI. Физкультминутка

  1. Развитие навыков аудирования. Активизация страноведческих знаний.

  • Do you want to visit Great Britain? Let's watch the video and learn the information about London. Open your textbooks, p.10, ex.8. Read the statements and decide if they are true or false.

  • What places in London would you like to visit? Why?

  • Why do people like to visit bath? Etc.

  1. Формирование навыков диалогической речи

- Now we'll learn how to have a talk with your friends about your summer holidays. ex.9, p.11 in your textbooks will be the example of the dialogue. At first we'll complete it all together. Then you will divide into pairs and make up your own dialogue. Read the dialogue and the options to yourself, please. Who is ready to read the dialogue aloud? Now it's your turn to act the dialogue out. You will open your textbooks, p.11, ex.10. Work in pairs and act out the conversation.

  1. Подведение итогов урока

- That'll do for today. You were actib\ve today and it was rather interesting to listen to your dialogues. I can see that you had a good rest last summer. Let's remember the poem “Hobbies”.
