* Grammar note.

Глагол «быть» to be имеет три формы в настоящем времени: am, is, are.

И две формы в прошедшем времени: was/were.

Examples: I am a pupil- Я ученик. I was a pupil- Я был учеником.

You are my friend- Вы-мои друзья. You were my friends- вы были моими друзьями.

He /she/it is at home. He/she/it was at home.

**Когда говорят о настоящем, то берут глаголы в начальной форме:

I play the piano every day. He plays the guitar. Обычное действие.

I/we/you/they +PLAY

He/she/it + PLAYS

В прошедшем времени употребляют глаголы во второй форме.

I played the piano yesterday- Я играла на пианино вчера.

I saw you 3 years ago- Я видел тебя 3 года назад.

Глаголы бывают правильные и неправильные. Если глагол правильный, например PLAY, WORK, WASH, то в прошедшем времени к начальной форме просто добавим окончание –ED

Play-played, work-worked, wash-washed…

Если глагол неправильный, ищем его в таблице неправильных глаголов и запоминаем вторую форму:

See- saw, go-went, think- thought, take-took, give-gave…

Grammar note.

Когда говорят о действиях в будущем, перед глаголом ставят WILL.

Will+ начальная форма глагола.

I will go for a walk tomorrow. Я пойду гулять завтра.

He will play tennis next week. Он будет играть в теннис на следующей неделе.

Teacher: The next task is to read the text and try to guess the last line of the story:

Can you guess the last line of the story?

The crying child.

One Sunday a young father was walking through the park. He was pushing a pram. There was a little baby in it crying loudly. The young father said softly, “Take it easy, Martin. Keep calm, Martin. Control yourself, Martin”.

The young father walked on but the child cried louder. The father stopped and took a teddy-bear out of the bag. He gave the toy to the child with the words: “Take it easy, Martin. Keep calm, Martin. Control yourself, Martin”.

The young father walked on. Three minutes later the child started to cry again. It cried louder and louder. The father took the baby out of the pram saying “Take it easy, Martin. Keep calm, Martin. Control yourself, Martin”.

The child didn’t stop crying.
