Цель урока: обобщить и систематизировать материал по теме «Защита окружающей среды»; развивать умения применять материал в практических ситуациях.
провести практику речевого общения в следующих видах деятельности: монологической речи, аудировании, чтении;
активизировать употребление лексики по теме «Защита окружающей среды»;
совершенствовать грамматические навыки говорения, в том числе словообразовательные навыки.
познавательный аспект – закрепить знания детей о проблемах окружающей среды и мерах по их решению.
развивающий аспект – развивать мышление, внимание, память, произвольное владение речью учащихся.
воспитательный аспект – воспитывать уважительное и бережное отношение к окружающей среде.

I. Организационный момент.
(В начале урока звучит 1 куплет и припев из песни из ролика на www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLV9jEMQLhY)
Teacher: Today we are going to learn to be radio reporters. Have you guessed what problems we are going to discuss?
Student’s answers: I think we will discuss the problems of the environment.
Teacher: You’re right. We are also going to think of some ways to solve them and try to prepare an announcement for our school radio to organize a clean-up campaign.
II. Фонетическая разминка.
You know that radio reporters should speak clearly. So we’re going to improve our pronunciation. Look at the blackboard and listen to my reading first.
Treat the Earth well, it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. (a Kenyan proverb)
Teacher: Can you guess the meaning of some words?
Treat – here: protect, behave towards it (относится к)
Loan – to lend smth, to give smth for some time (давать взаймы, одалживать)
Read the proverb to yourself, then read it out loud as well as you can.
How can you comment on the proverb or explain it?
III. Лексические упражнения.
Divide into three groups, four students in each group, please. You are going to work in teams today.
1. Look at these two columns and match the words in column A with their definitions in column B, please.
2. Look at the pictures and comment on them. (См. Приложение 1) Use your active vocabulary and 5 – 7 sentences. For each correct sentence you get one point.

Did you know that our planet has a special day? Every year, on the 22nd of April, we celebrate Earth Day. On this day, we remind ourselves and others how precious the Earth is and how important it is to look after it.
Earth Day was the idea of American Senator, Gaylord Nelson. The Senator was a sensitive man who couldn’t bearwatching our planet suffer. Rivers and seas were getting dirty, many of our plants and animals were becomingextinct and not many people knew about it. Therefore, he decided to take action and create a special day to remind everyone that we need to take care of the earth.
The Senator started by writing letters to colleges, to inform students and teachers about his campaign. He also wrote an article for Scholastic Magazines presenting his idea about the special day he was planning. He hoped that young people around the country would react positively. Fortunately, they did!
As a result, on April 22, 1970, 20 million people across America celebrated the first Earth Day. People all over the country made promises to respect and look after the environment. Since then, Earth Day has been celebrated all over the planet.
Today, on Earth Day people organize fund-raising events, such as concerts, contests, parades, festivals, tree-planting excursions and clean-up campaigns. Children design and make objects at school such as bird feeders and earth day wreaths and all of us promise to try to turn every day into Earth Day!

Optional: Give a short summary of the text. Say how and when Earth Day started, what people do on that day and it is important to celebrate such a day.
In groups work as radio correspondents and create an announcement for the school radio about a clean-up campaign in Krylatskoe. Try to make your schoolmates interested in the campaign. Don’t forget about the date, time place, etc. You have 5 minutes. Then one of your group will read the announcement as well as (s)he can.
