The Diamond Fund of Russia is a permanent exhibition where unique
collections belonging to the State Repository of Values of the country are
exhibited. Nuggets, rare precious stones, jewelry of the XVIII-XX centuries, as
well as works of art with special historical, scientific or artistic value are
exhibited in the Moscow Kremlin.
The basis of the
museum collection of the Diamond Fund consists of treasures belonging to the
Russian royal family.
The repository,
created by Peter I, was located in St. Petersburg until 1914, and then moved to
Moscow. The exposition was officially opened in 1967. Nowadays, the Diamond
Fund is one of the most visited Moscow museums, which arouses genuine interest
of both Russian and foreign tourists.
The initiative to create a special collection belongs to the
Russian sovereign Peter I.
At the beginning of 1922, the new Soviet
government created a special commission that conducted an examination and
described the jewelry. Imperial regalia and gems became part of the newly
created repository, called the "State Diamond Fund".
The first
public demonstration of values took place in 1925 in the building of the House
of Unions. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, part of the unique collection was
sold abroad, at auctions.
The Soviet government organized an exhibition accessible to
everyone in 1967. Initially, they wanted to create it for only a year. But the
visitors showed such great interest in the exhibits of the Diamond Fund that by
a special government decision the exhibition received the status of permanent.
Thematically, the exposition is divided into seven parts: imperial
regalia for coronation, orders, works of jewelers of the XVIII-XIX centuries
and the second half of the last century, large diamonds, rare precious stones,
as well as large nuggets.
The British Museum is one of the greatest museums in the world.
It's not just the number of exhibits, but also the overall quality of the
collections placed here.
The modern museum building, dating from 1823, is an excellent
example of neoclassical architecture of the XIX century. The foundation of the
exposition was laid in 1753. Other collections were gradually added, including
the Royal Library, donated by George II.
It is located in
Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Tahrir Square, located in the central part of
the city. Its collection of historical values exceeds 150,000 exhibits and
attracts millions of tourists from all over the world every year.
The Cairo Egyptian Museum consists of a huge lobby and one hundred
halls located on two floors.
The Egyptian Museum of Cairo keeps granite, limestone and basalt
sculptures of the rulers of Egypt on the ground floor. The second floor
contains treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun and other ancient rulers.
There are a huge number of museums on our planet! It is difficult
to tell about them in one presentation. But we hope that you liked it and you
will be interested in the world of museums on your own.
