Keep it short – 1-2 sentences
Keep it simple – boring is good!
Restate the thesis – opinion to opinion, outline to outline
Restate highlights – main points, reasons/ arguments, advantages/ disadvantages, etc.
Write a conclusion!
Introduce any new idea – confuses the reader, weakens the main arguments
Use a personal pronoun (I, me, my) – you already did this in the introduction
Overwrite – keep it short and simple
Experiment with language – do this in the body!

Shopping centres have changed the way we shop – but is this really improvement?
Make a general statement to introduce the topic.
SHOPPING CENTRES HAVE IMPROVED THE WAY WE SHOP
Summarise your arguments at the end of your essay.
You should include your own opinion, but don’t use informal expressions.
To summarise, on the one hand, they offer comfortable shopping experience, but on the other hand, they make us all the same: customers in a commercialized world where the most important things are things you can buy,
In my view, shopping centres are useful, but we should not allow them to change the world we live in.

Computers have changed the way we live – but is this really improvement?
Make a general statement to introduce the topic.
Summarise your arguments at the end of your essay.
You should include your own opinion, but don’t use informal expressions.
To summarise, on the one hand, they offer tons of information, educational sites and various sites for entertainment, but on the other hand, we can become computer addicts, suffer from obesity and have bad eyesight.
In my view, computers are useful, but we should not allow them to change the world we live in.

Using computers to learn
13 слайд
14 слайд
I can’t imagine life without a computer. My computer means everything for me. I do my homework on it, send emails to my friends and visit websites and chat rooms. It’s like a typewriter and address book for me and I also use it for checking my spelling. Besides I can surf the net and discover everything about anything. Also computers have all I need for hours of fun: websites are packed with quizzes, games and competitions. So, I can play and learn on it. And I think school subjects become more interesting when presented on a computer screen.
My mum and dad sometimes use it for work. Dad is even keen on playing some computer games. And hey, if it crashes, we all get really annoyed!
15 слайд
For me, computers are a means to an end, nothing more. I don’t find them interesting themselves. They enable me to do things that I need to do, such as sending emails or checking information on websites to help me with my work or connected to one of my hobbies. But with my son the situation is totally different. He is obsessed with computers. He can spend hours playing computer games. And I’m so worried about him, because I do know that video games may look innocent, but they can be as addictive as gambling or drugs – and just as hard to kick.
I have a son who doesn’t know how to communicate with people face-to-face because he has spent the last three years talking to somebody in Korea through a computer.

One positive aspect of shopping centres is convenience: we can find everything from groceries to electronics, from cosmetics to clothes, under the same roof.
Furthermore, shopping centres offer entertainment facilities, like cinemas or bowling alleys, with an enormous range of things to buy or to do.
In addition, they are places where you can meet people and socialize in cafes and restaurants. They have become the focus of social life for many teenagers. - Body paragraph 1
However, smaller local shops which used to offer a friendlier more personal service are closing down because they cannot keep up with the competition.
The same thing is happening to local cinemas, and sometimes even bars and restaurants, In fact, we are losing places that were once important in our lives.
Another disadvantage of shopping centres is that they offer bland, uniform products all over the world - local character is disappearing. In order to supply a large number of customers efficiently, mass-produced goods replace custom-made products. - Body paragraph 2
