Landmarks of Great Britain
I’d like to tell you about some unusual and strange places in Great Britain. One of the most mysterious and unique prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England. Stonehenge is surely Britain's greatest national landmark, symbolizing mystery, power and endurance. Its original purpose is unclear to us, but some have speculated that it was a temple made for the worship of ancient earth deities, or an astronomical observatory, or the prehistoric calendar. Others claim( заявлять) that it was a sacred (святой) site for the burial of high-ranking citizens. While we can't say exactly what it was for, we can say that it wasn't constructed for any casual purpose.
Castles with ghosts are the most original and mostly visited places for tourists. Windsor castle is one of them. King Henry VIII ghost has been seen walking the hallways of Windsor castle. His footsteps, along with agonizing moans have been heard by many guests of the castle.
Many tourists would consider their trip to London worthless if they didn't visit the famous Madam Tussaud's. Madam Tussaud's is the most popular and talked about wax museum in the world. There are wax models of the famous and infamous, both living and dead people. Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monro, Michael Jackson, Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, the British Royal family, Bill Clinton, Jack the Ripper ... There is no other place where you can see all the celebrities at once
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, England. Also known as the Millennium Wheel. The entire structure is 135 metres (443 feet) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). It is currently Europe's tallest Ferris wheel, the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3.5 million visitors annually
