Everybody must be proud of his history , his country. And today we are going to speak about the heart of our country, its capital-Moscow, about its beautiful places of interest and sights. Imagine: your friend has summer holidays and he decided to visit your home-town Moscow. He is willing to know as much as possible about this city. That’s what you can tell him about.
Moscow is the capital of Russia, its economic, political and cultural ___(center, region, institute). Its ___(territory, population, registration) is about 10 million people. Its area is about 900 thousand ___( oval, round, square) kilometers. The city was ___(founded, built, originated) by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky in the 12th century. St. Basil’s Cathedral (also the Pokrovsky Cathedral) is the cathedral on Red Square in Moscow. It was built by the architects Barma and Postnik ( or one architect whose name was Barma Postnik) in 1555-1561. It was built in honour of the victory of the Russians over the Kazan khanate.It is often taken as a symbol of Moscow. Its seven domes are of different colours.
