My favorite book in English.

Hello, my name is ValeryaBazyleva, I’m 13 years old, and I am a seventh-year pupil of school 1420. You know, I have a lot of hobbies.For example, I have been painting for four years, I enjoy studying biology and exploring different unusual animals, doing sports etc.

One of my favourites is reading. Unfortunately, I can’t spend many hours doing it, because I’m very busy every day, but I try to read as often as I can. I like reading books in the Russian language and in English too. My favorite genres are novels and adventuresbut I am not fond of fantasy orthrillers, because I prefer reading about real things to reading about something mystical, I also adore reading books about animals, and the latest book I’ve readis <<White Fang>>, a novel written by American authorJack London.

Jack London was born in 1876 inSan Francisco, California, his mother was a music teacher and aspiritualist, Jack’s father was an astrologerand when he understood that he would have a son, he left Jack London’s mom. When the boy was born his mother gave her son to the other woman to look after him not for a long time.

Jack lived in hard and poor times, so he started to work very early. He sold newspapers, worked at bowling alley, cleaned pavilions in parks and he even caught oysters in San Francisco Bay.

He began his career as a writer with an essay << Typhoon off the coast of Japan>>, and it was successfulenough. Jack London’s life was close to nature, so he used all his experience writing his novels.

In 1906 he wrote <<White Fang>> - a novel about a fate of a wolf, who lived during the Gold rush. This story speaks about good and bad, how much love and good attitude mean to everybody. The writer shows how bad attitude and cruelty can change a person or an animal to the evil side, and how kindness and affection towards the animal teaches to give love for love, and maybe, even life. In fact, love was more than life for White Fang.

The most expressive characters of this story are:

White Fang – it is aprotagonist and he is three-quarters wolf and one-quarter dog, he was born in wild, but when Grey Beaver found him, he became more dog-like. White Fang grew up fierce and unloved, he was forced to communicate and work with other dogsas long as everything had changed at the Fort Yukon. He is my favorite character, due to his nature and ability to love, his feelings were similar to the human.

Lip-lip is a very nasty and angry dog who also lived in the Native American village. He hated White Fang and often tried to bite him. That’s the character I don’t like because of his behavior, and I wasn’t upset when White Fang killed him.

Beauty Smithis White Fang's second master. He was a very ugly man who got Grey Beaver addicted to alcohol so that he could buy White Fang. Smith made White Fang a fighting dog. He earned money thanks to his wolf and he was rude and harsh towards him. With hisnew masterWhite Fang became bitchy and he wanted to kill everybody, because he believed that everyone was his enemy. I can’t stand Beauty Smith, he seldom treated that great dog, just because of his greed.

Weedon Scottis White Fang's third master, he rescued him from Beauty Smith and the bulldog. This man changed the wolf and awakened the feeling of love in him. Just with him White Fang understood what kindness, love and dedication mean. I love this character as I love White Fang.

I can’t help admiring this book - <<White Fang>>teaches goodness and justice, faithful friendship and unconditional love. In this creation Jack London tells us about the wolf’s life implying our lives. I think it would be very good and useful, if all children and our children and all generations read this book.
